What can Street Figther 2010 teach us about the coming year?

Post by J T »

The year is now 2010. The time is upon us. So what can Street Fighter 2010 teach us about this coming year to prepare us for what is about to happen?

1. Acceptance of Gays and Lesbians will further continue to the point that Ken Masters, a world renowned street fighting champion, will finally feel comfortable in identifying Troy as his partner. It's not clear what will happen to Eliza after this.

2. The subtitle of Street Figther 2010 is "the final fight". That means fighting will end. We can infer this to mean that humankind will either obliterate itself and become extinct by our own undoing, or we will achieve everlasting peace. Let's hope it's peace, but it is also entirely possible that Capcom simply wanted to make a game that capitalized on the success of it's previous games Street Fighter and Final Fight, despite the fact that Street Figther 2010 is nothing like either of them.

3. You will not be able to duck and shoot in the future. Any attempts to do so will cause a laser to shoot out of your foot in an upwards diagonal motion. This will present quite a handicap to the vast majority of humans because a standing straight shot will almost always be too high to kill the many slow-moving, heat-seeking robot missiles that will chase and taunt us relentlessly through the streets of New York.

4. Cyboplasm. Stay on the lookout for when this drug is finally released without FDA approval. Taking too much will do one of two things: it will turn you into a violent, mindless superman, or it will turn you into a violent, mindless superalien. Either way, it's pretty awesome.

That's what I've learned so far. If you would like to "together retro" this game with me as I play it to unlock the secrets of the new year, please feel free to add this thread the teachings of Street Fighter 2010.

AVGN taught us what we need to look out for during the intro scene on his SF2010 video, though the rest of the video was pretty average.

I'm still waiting for all the 19XX events to come true. The future needs to get its ass in gear. We haven't even made it to Jupiter yet, but we're supposed to make contact this year too. I'm very disappointed.

I'm still waiting for the flying cars and floating skateboard (like back in the future).

Man, I already made this thread last week. Anyway, I, for one, was banking on there being teleportation by now, hence moving to the opposite side of the world on a whim. Ah well, can't be right all the time.

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed it was pretty much like: "Uhh, here's Street Fighter!"
