I've been told my google-fu is poor, but I can never seem to find emulators for use on consoles. When I want emulators on PC I usually go to emulator-zone.com but I don't know any good places to find emus for consoles. I try to google for them but don't come up with much.
Currently, I'm looking for a Gameboy emulator (or even GBA that can also play GB) for the Dreamcast and either the PS1 or Gamecube. Do any even exist?

Ah well theres your problem. For emulator knowledge go to Zophars domain. He has a page set up for emulators on the Dreamcast - I cant view it so I dont know if there is a Gameboy one, sorry:

Ah, thanks. None for DC but I found ones on PS1 and Gamecube. Unfortunately they both looks like they haven't been touched in the last 5 or 6 years, and are very early versions of the emulators.
The Gamecube GB emulator says there's no sound, so I'm not even gonna touch that one lol. The PS1 says it works OK, but is in it's early stages. I guess I'll give that one a shot. The version date says 2004 and the link to the developer's site is broke, so I guess there's no hope on seeing updates it.
These can't be the only two GB emulators on consoles, can they?

Cant help you with that one ziggy. I installed visualboy on my Wii and havent looked back.
Re: Emulators for use on consoles...
XboyAdvance on the Xbox is very good. The Xbox is where most of the emulator on console development ended up getting focused. There's a good emulator on the Xbox for just about everything. Best reason to own an Xbox IMO (well that and XBMC).
It's a real shame there's not better classic controllers for the Xbox though.

Ah, wait. I just looked under GBA emulators and found one for the Cube that plays GBA, GBC and GB games. Hopefully this will work.fastbilly1 wrote:Cant help you with that one ziggy. I installed visualboy on my Wii and havent looked back.
Yeah, my Wii isn't modded though, so I'm limited to only a few consoles.
Yeah, I've read a few times that the Xbox was great for emulation. But I don't own the console.Hatta wrote:XboyAdvance on the Xbox is very good. Re: Emulators for use on consoles...
Personally, I'm not sure why you would want to play emulators on the Dreamcast or PS1. I think it would be a drag to burn new CD when ever you want to change some roms.
I can understand wanting to play them on the xbox or the wii since they have hard drive capability. Even the gamecube would be ok since you can use SD load (I've done this with NES & SNES).

Re: Emulators for use on consoles...
Why? I think 700MB is enough space to jam in the ROMs I want to play, considering GB games are 1-4MB each. And the Gamecube has the luxury of a 1.4GB mini DVD.
The choice of consoles is just what I have available that I can boot a burned disc from. If I had an Xbox, I'd probably go that route, but I don't.
