Favorite 3DO Games

Post by forsigmar »

I just picked one up again (I sold mine about 5 years ago) and I am looking to pick up a few games for it. I remember Slayer and Death Keep being the best games I had for it. I was just wondering what other members favorite games were for the system?

Road rash is pretty awesome on 3DO, and is easily the best version of the game imo.

Starblade is an cool shooter made by Namco, although i think its available in Tekken 5, which would probably be an easier game to get.

Luciennes Quest is meant to be awesome, but it's pricy, so i can't say i've tried it. The same goes for Samurai Shodown 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

I also hear good things about Wing Commander III, although I own it, and can't say i see whats so great about it.

D's Diner (Or just 'D') is meant to be great too, but it was ported to many consoles, which is generally the problem with most 3DO games.

I enjoy Road Rash, NFS, and Gex. For some reason, other than PC, this is the version of Theme Park I play too. The Street Fighter 2 port is supposed to be okay, but i think the controller sucks for it.

Star Control 2 is a great game and should be in every 3DO owners collection. Some other titles of interest are listed below.

Battlesport (great great multiplayer game)
Captain Quazar (great overhead action title, wonder why this wasn't ported?)
D (not exactly scary but still interesting, also available on other systems)
Gex (still a good platformer though you may want to just get one of the ports)
Ice Breaker (addictive action puzzle game)
Killing Time (another great little game that made me really want a 3DO, not much like the PC version)
Lucienne's Quest (most balanced RPG you will ever play, why wasn't it ported?)
Space Hulk (get this version, PSOne and Saturn versions are missing the critical heart beat sound and thusly, a ton of atmosphere)
Star Fighter (this is the game that made me really pay attention to the 3DO when it hit $100, also ported)
Wing Commander III (notable because of it's production values, acting wasn't bad and almost believable something of a first for FMV laden games)

Like others have said Star Control II is the reason to keep a 3do around. The Horde is another good one that is underrated.

Technically - http://www.freedo.org/

It is stable but not up to speed yet and some games have bugs - The Horde has a heavy blue hue.
