then it says run the Trucha Bug Restore again, and chose IOS15

There is :
Press A to chose IOS36
and
press B to load without IOS

I restarted my Wii and chose to downgrade to IOS15 several times and it completed successfully
am I missing something?
Use left/right on the Wiimote d-pad when it says "Press A to choose IOS36" and it'll allow you to choose another IOS. Just keep pressing left until it says "Press A to choose IOS15"

GOD!
This is getting frustrating,
The guy just had to change the guide for the New Year, and I was in the middle of soft modding the console!!!

So I downloaded his new files again, and I am in the Trucha Bug restore thing
He says to downrade IOS15 , then choose load ios from SD, so
i did.
Then he says choose IOS 15 and press A, he also makes remark that it is IMPORTANT,
but there is no IOS15 so I figure is hould go back to the Dop-IOS program to chose IOS15, but the instructions on the screen says if you downgraded succesffully you should chose IOS36!!
WTF

But I chose 15 any way
Then he says wait until it says hit 1, but it doesn't it says hit A

then he says choose IOS36 Menu
But there is NO IOS36 MENU!!!!
There is IOS's, Channels, System Menu, Remove Stubbed IOS, and display boot2 information

so I figured that maybe he meant to go to IOSes and chose IOS 26, but when I do that , It says
"Select the IOS you want to DOP"
While he instructs to use the following settings:
Install IOS to slot (36)
Hash check (trucha) YES
ES_Identity YES
NAND Permissions YES

Which I see no place where I am able to enter these settings,
Which makes me very aware that I am in the wrong place!

You know this wouldn't be so frustrating if there were no BRICKING warnings every where, and instructions that matches whats on the screen.

I am sorry, I know this is for free and some guys are working on it, but if they are going to give me weird instructions that is going to brick my Wii , You know I am just not sure what to say.

Sigh this just keeps getting more and more complicated doesn't it? I assure you it isn't supposed to be this hard.

Perhaps I should explain what that step is doing: Basically you need to enable a bug that allows you to run "fakesigned" software. The bug was fixed in newer versions of IOS, this program allows you to reenable the bug.

What it does:

1) Downgrades IOS15 to an older version with the bug in it.
2) Once IOS15 is downgraded you can use IOS15 to patch IOS36 and enable the bug on that IOS.
3) Finally once IOS36 is patched it uses IOS36 to restore IOS15 to the latest version.

Perhaps these instructions are more clear:
Usage

Select which IOS you would like to use to install other IOSes. The IOS you choose must be able to accept fakesigning. Do NOT select an IOS that you plan to install.

If you do not have an IOS that accepts fakesigning installed (This means you! :)), select the option which allows you ton install one. Then do the following:

1. Select IOS36, downgrade IOS15.
2. Select IOS15, go to the IOS36 menu, install patched IOS36 (trucha + identify) to IOS36.
3. Select IOS36, restore IOS15.
If you'd prefer to use the older version of the guide I have it backed up to my HDD and have uploaded it for you here. I'd recommend using the older guide because the instructions are known to work.

If you need the files that go with the older version (hopefully you didn't delete them) let me know and I'll upload them for you.

I did delete the older files, how should I know
the guy changed it, they are no use to me now

You see, what I dont get is where is this IOS36 menu?
There is IOSs option IN the menu
thats it

I honestly rather use the older files since they are tested and clearer

EDIT****
The Lord works in mysterious ways, I didn't delete the files off my email,
will check out the old tutorial tomorrow

WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
IT WORKS!! IT FINALLY WORKS!!
ITS ALIIIIIVEEEE!!!

God, the procedure is so easy yet people make it so complex.
They got instructions wrong, files spread all over the internet, Multiple Readme files, a ton of website each one linking to the other just to download a single file. Why does it have to be like this!? These people are smart enough to write code that will make a legit console run backups, but can't type clear set of instructions?

Some issues I got:

*My wii will not boot with the SD card inserted. It will turn on but I will have a black screen. The reset+power button do nothing I got to disconnect the electricity. Why is that?

*If I reboot my Wii it keeps saying "No Hack.ini or Nand file found" then it loads the system menu

*I got a white screen whenever I turned on my Wii, I think its the preloader screen. In the Settings I chose to boot to system menu. Now its gone, I am not sure how I can get it back on, or why would I want it in the first place. What does it do?

*The system menu background music seems weird. Its like skipping or having extra tunes into it. It either that or I am imagining .

*I played Spartan Total Warrior back, it finally worked after like a year of trying. This feels so good, but in the cut-scenes I can hear the music but not spoken audio. Is this to be expected?

last but NOT least, a huge thanks to you DownSince86.
You were really helpful and I can't describe to you how grateful I am going with me through this step by step and having the patience to do it. Thanx again, hopefully I can help you in the future.

What is on the SD card? There may be a file preventing it from booting or a bad configuration file.

Check to make sure the file /bootmii/bootmii.ini is on the SD card and edit it to your needs.

Also make sure to remove your NAND backup from the SD-card and keep it stored in a safe place.

BTW you don't have to unplug your Wii when it refuses to turn off. A lot of people don't know this for some reason but: Hold down the power button for about 3 - 5 seconds and the Wii will shut down.
*If I reboot my Wii it keeps saying "No Hack.ini or Nand file found" then it loads the system menu
Go to this webpage and find your system menu version and region. Copy everything in the text block and paste it to a new text file. Save the file as hacks.ini and put it in the root of your SD card. Should solve your problem.

*I got a white screen whenever I turned on my Wii, I think its the preloader screen. In the Settings I chose to boot to system menu. Now its gone, I am not sure how I can get it back on, or why would I want it in the first place. What does it do?
That setting allows you to boot directly to the system menu and skip priiloader's menu.

Priiloader allows you to load the homebrew channel (and other apps) even if the system menu is corrupted. Because you do not have a hacks.ini file priiloader might be having trouble saving your settings...

Once your have a proper hacks.ini file try editing the settings again and tell it to auto-boot to the system menu. Should work but if not I can always help you get that fixed.

BTW even if you set priiloader to automatically boot in to the system menu you can always bring up the priiloader menu by holding down the reset button while the Wii is booting up.
*The system menu background music seems weird. Its like skipping or having extra tunes into it. It either that or I am imagining.
Mine does this too sometimes, it is normal. It is a side effect of having priiloader installed (priiloader "hacks" the system menu and installs itself inside of it). Since you have a Wii that can run bootmii as boot2 you don't need priiloader. So if this _really_ bothers you you could uninstall piiloader and install something like startpatch to get similar functionality (system menu hacks) without all the minor bugs.
*I played Spartan Total Warrior back, it finally worked after like a year of trying. This feels so good, but in the cut-scenes I can hear the music but not spoken audio. Is this to be expected?
No you should have no problems playing any games, unless this is a bug in the game itself. Is this a retail copy or a backup? If it is a backup you made/downloaded it might have not been dumped correctly.

No problem, and I like tobacco, liquor, and dirty virgins if your thinking about buying me a gift. ;)

I took out the bootmii folder because the instructions said to do so

but I got it back in, and I also did the hacks.ini file thing
same result. I am not sure whats wrong

and how about an amazon gift card?

*************
After keeping the SD card on for sometime, it said
error missing "[" before "n" on line one

I opened hacks.ini and bootmii.ini but there is n in line 1

Post your hacks.ini in

Code: Select all

[/ code] (minus the spaces) it looks like a syntax error.
