What if there was some crazy alternative universe where sequels were never made. I suppose franchises could still have spin-offs and spiritual sequels but nothing else. In this universe I would even be able to allow there to be things like trilogies made so long as the idea came from the beginning and the original creator saw it through. I mean, you can't fit all of the Lord of the Rings saga into one book. That's just ludicrous.

I like to think that this alternative universe would be better to what we have now. Sure sometimes sequels end up being much greater improvements but a lot of times they just end up to be rehashed. Besides, there would probably be a spiritual sequel or spin off kind of alternative.

Take Mega Man for example. In this alternative universe they would only create Mega Man. After that they might make a game starring Proto Man or something which would have improved mechanics and tweaked gameplay.

Just a thought.
