drunken ebay buys

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

nothing videogame related, but one of my roommates in college used to buy things drunk off of infromercials, like the egg wave...

when you've had too many microwaving your eggs sure does look like a good idea, but in real life it wasn't so tasty.

I make sure that when I drink I do it where I don't have access to the net. My girlfriend has no internet access at her place and she drinks with me so thats where I do my drinking and then sleep it off so when I get back online I'm not gonna make mistakes like yours :P

I still make stupid mistakes on ebay though usually when sleepy or whatever...

I've never bought anything off ebay drunk (although I have from PSN... but that's not too bad), but I have one little story about drunken game buying.

A few months ago I was out drinking in a Japanese bar with my wife, probably singing karaoke, too. I got home at around 9pm I think, so not too late. Suddenly, a familiar song popped into my alcohol induced mind...

Ridge Racer

I hopped on my bike (not much need for a car where I am), and 30 minutes later I game home proudly holding my prizes; Ridge Racer 1-4 for the PS and Ridge Racer V for the PS2.
I'd already owned them all previously, but they were packed away... so my drunken self thought it would be a good idea to just buy them again.

My wife wasn't too impressed. I think they were only about $1 each, so it wasn't a big deal. Just funny!

Not true, I bought "Ballz" for the Genesis while extremely tired.
At least Ballz looked cool and functioned somewhat properly. Brutal is FAR worse.

I have bought shit drunk off of ebay several times but I do not think anything over $50. Though several things do add up over time.

Stuff like that is a dime a dozen here. That's why, even though I have two US Playstations and two US Playstation 2s, I got a Japanese version of each system. It's so easy to build a collection living here. Well, of racing, fighting and RPG games anyway. Try to build a collection of PS1 shoot 'em ups, and your money will be gone pretty quickly.

Mind you, this is combing the electric pawn shops of the "countryside" surrounding Tokyo. I'm lucky enough to live by a few shops. Best for me to do it now while I'm still living here! I know damn well it won't be this easy when I leave.
