i just got a disc-only copy of senko no ronde for $3. i also got a complete copy of xenosaga II for $4. also, as it would turn out, my sister is friends with one of the managers so he said he'd hold back any promotional items they get in, any PS2 inserts/manuals that are slated to be tossed (for the gutted "bargain bins") and any other extra stuff they had laying around. i was ecstatic. i'm gonna go in there once a week.

Re: Gamestop is evil
I now have a legitimate reason to loathe Gamestop. Today, I was casually looking across their site; looking for games, until I came across something very special: Xenosaga 3. The game I have been looking for for a decent price for over 2 years. I called them to make sure the website wasn't incorrect [which it usually was], and they said they did indeed have the game. I rushed over to the store as fast as my car wold move, then ran inside the store, and I asked for the game. They checked for the game, and said that they were wrong; they have to wait 15 DAYS to sell a game after it is traded in. BULLSHIT. However, they did tell me that the store across the street had it, so I rushed back over to the other Gamestop, ran towards the door, only to see a person, walking out of the store, with a copy of Xenosaga 3. Needless to say, I was seriously pissed.

I wouldn't worry, as digital distribution replaces the disc, places like GameStop will stop making money and either go out of business or become very sparse.

In some states, stores that buy and sell used games have to follow the same rules as pawn shops do. That may be the reason for the 15 day hold. Although I can't see why for a game, but for a system with a serial number they use that in case it is reported stolen.lisalover1 wrote:They checked for the game, and said that they were wrong; they have to wait 15 DAYS to sell a game after it is traded in. This is true in Chicago, our store has to wait a week on anything but electronics(systems, and such) which we have to hold for a monthJimmy Yakapucci wrote:In some states, stores that buy and sell used games have to follow the same rules as pawn shops do. I agree. Gamestop is against video gaming, but what can I do? I'm in a small town. Unless I'm buying online, which I'm doing now, that's the only place I can find games.
And with a reasonable selection. If I hear about some obsure PS2 or gamecube game I need, I can look it up and see if we have it here. If its under twenty bucks, I typically buy it.

Re: Gamestop is evil
I only buy new games from them, and I only buy them through their website. I refuse to go in to any Gamestop store now after begin accused of stealing and begin followed around by store clerks/managers whilst shopping on more than one occasion in multiple stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virgina.
I don't know if I "look" like a thief or the fact that I can browse around for a half hour before buying something means I'm probably stealing but it was enough to turn me off ever shopping there again.
I ended up getting kicked out of one of their stores after getting in to an argument with one of the managers who refused to let me leave unless I emptied my pockets. I pretty much told him that it wasn't going to happen and if he had a problem with it we'd step outside. Instead he called the law and I didn't wait around for them to show up as I had been hassled enough for one day. I was told not to come back and I assured him that I never would.
