Hmm ok but i take it the rgb out from the Saturn is not Y-Pr-Pb... so... now i'm more confused.
It would really help if someone could find me a circuit that shows exactly how to map rgb with the Saturn's sync type to the vga connector. If this doesn't require any chips i still want to do it myself rather then buy something thats only half as good...
Edit: i tryed to connect the rgb to the converter cable for my wii and then looked at it with an oscilloscope it seems that the saturn is not sending anything from those nodes on the mini din... PAL saturns have rgb removed then?

No, PAL Saturns definitely have RGB. IF anything PAL/JAP 'anything' is more likely to have RGB output since we have SCART, it's NTSC systems that don't.
IF (I'm not sure about the Saturn's scart cable) the SCART has the appropriate pins for RGB. I have an 'RGB SCART' (I quote since I'm not 100% sure) for my Saturn, but the problem is my Saturn is at my mum's house, If it was here I've be able to test it for you because my Viera recognises if cables are RGB or not. It handily says in the corner
A SCART cable should output with this following pinout:
These will need to be taken out into a seperate audio connector
1 - audio right
2 - audio left
4 - audio ground
Of course this all relies on having a monitor that understands composite sync. If you need hsync and vsync, then you're going to have to build sync separator.
You can find the schematic on this page then just take your composite sync from pin 17 on the SCART, into the separator then the seperated hsync to pin 13 on the VGA and the vsync to pin 14 on the VGA, the sync ground goes to the same sync ground pin on the vga (10).
Good luck!!
Of course this is all theoretical, it's what I would do if I needed to build one from scratch.
It's also depended on your monitor being able to accept a 15k hsync signal, since most crt monitors run at 31k. So yeah, there's lots of ifs batting around this thread.

Re: Sega Staturn with D-Sub
thanks alot for the info... i have a brand new LCD and i have had it run 480 interlaced at 50hz(composite) but this was through a converter cable designed for the wii.
The specs page on there site states it will work from 24-83KHz (http://www.benq.com.au/products/LCD/?pr ... ifications) so i guess i'm out of luck. i've already ordered a capture card for my pc to send it through so i'll just have to put up with S-Video for now
And anyway it would be like playing an emulator if it were perfect
