Problems with SSF

Post by kgcarini »

I've gotten SSF to work with many Saturn games except the one I want to play the most! I've downloaded Shining Force III and burned it with alcohol 120% but it will not load. SSF says that the drive is open. I've down loaded it from a couple of different places and got the same result. Any suggestions? Thanks. :)

Try loading the bin/cue in a virtual drive using a program like daemon tools (or alcohol 120 even.) I recommend running all saturn games like that simply because you don't have to burn any cds.

i have it working just fine...but i know how temperamental SSF can be. the version im using is 010_alpha_R4. i would recoment doing the same thing lwcook said. it surly saves cd-r's. if you have alchol use it...otherwise use daemon tools...although if i can remember right i had problems with this. oh and make sure you have it set up to the right drive.

May I suggest Daemon Tools Lite? The lite version allows you to mount and it is also free:

I use MagicDisc because Daemon Tools refused to install on my computer under any circumstances.

MagicDisc is good as well, I just have been using Alcohol 120% and Daemon tools interchangeably for about 10 years or so.

I think I know what your problem is. Open SSF and go to options, what is the CD drive option set to? You want it to say "Generic DVD-ROM".

Other than that, make sure that your BIOS and area code are correct.

EDIT: Oh, you're not using Daemon tools. Just change the CD drive option to whatever Alcohol mounts images as (you probably only have one other option).

It works for all of them with the virtual drive except for Shining Force III. I guess it's a bad file? This is the third time in the past week I've downloaded from different sites. Oh, well...
