Thought you had a good deal, but you didn't

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Thought you had a good deal, but you didn't

Post by skyknight »

Well, I don't know if there was a topic like this, I did a search with some key words, but there was any results that I wanted.

I posted earlier about a display problem with my SwanCrystal that I got off from ebay for USD $100+, granted it was highly-seek color version with 2 games. Not saying that I got ripped off, but gee, I do wonder if this was the worst deal that I got my self into. Guess you can say that I need something to vent my frustration.

I haven't much bad luck with other gaming purchases, but what about the rest of you? Have you ever toss in a good chunk of money into a retro system, only to find out there was some serious problems with it? Or bought a game, only to find out it was a bootleg?

Yup. Bought a 3D0 on this site, and the three games that came with it were copies, and that was not disclosed in the description.

I almost did...saw a 32x at a flea market...price was NOT great but decent considering it had all cables. I told her I would be back later...so...I come back and then wtf...both cables to hook it to a genny 1 and 2...are not missing *yes she had both cables for model 1 AND 2*...so either she pulled them to try and sell me a 32x with NOTHING, OR...someone stole them either way, almost got screwed. Think she was asking 30$...but with no cables its not worth 10$ to me.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

Actually, no. I should have asked in the first place, but I paid $70 for a 3DO and three games, which I thought were originals. Buyer Beware, Live and Learn.

Not sure if this story fits but here it is anyway. This wasn't necessarily a bad deal, just a deal that I didn't get what I was excitedly expecting to get. One guy was selling a psx with two controllers, FF7, FF9, and Xenosaga and some other stuff for only 30$. My friend wanted FF7 and I wanted xenosaga so we were going to divide it. The seller told me that all the games were in good condition with everything they came with. This was true for FF7 and a few other games I forget which were complete with original case and manuals. FF9 was missing the back slip, but otherwise immaculate condition, and Xenosaga wasn't even a legitimate copy. It had a water damaged poor quality print out for a slip, and the disc was just a burned copy. There were a couple other games like this and I didn't know what to say to him. I told him this isn't a legal copy of the game and he just looked at me blankly. He didn't know what a mod chip was or what burned games were he just had it and wanted to sell everything.

I just bought a CIB copy of Fire Emblem Sacred Stones for the GBA off of Ebay. It just happens to be a bootleg.

Actually I already had all that stuff. I didn't get anything out of it. My friend just bought all of it. Which is still pretty sweet, but I didn't get Xenogears the way I was hoping
