i'll add three to the list:

Boom Blox
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Little Big Planet

I have to give the biggest recommendation to LBP, we can play that game for HOURS with the community created levels and it never gets old or dull.

Maybe I should have started out small.

Games I have failed to get someone to like

GTA4
Animal Crossing (64)

Games I did have success with
1. Sonic 1. Wouldn't let her touch 2 until she beat 1. I don't think she can beat 1.
2. Virtual Tennis 3

Seems like girls don't like games that don't have a point. RPG's, GTA-types, those open ended games seem to bore them.

My wife gets angry when I even say the word "videogame". I always joke that videogames killed her family or something because she has this inexplicable rage against them. She thinks they are a waste of time and she hates anything animated.

Nevertheless, a few games have clicked. I've got her to play Space Channel 5 and Guitar Hero on multiple occassions. She actually got through all of the easy levels on Guitar Hero and halfway through Medium before she lost interest. Music games seem ok with her because she's a fan of music and we were both into the rave scene for a long time, so the graphics remind her of rave visuals.

The one more mature game that she kind of liked was Indigo Prophecy. She complained a lot about how slow paced it was, but after she first played it, it stuck with her for awhile and she wanted to see what happened with the story.

When she actually seemed to have the most fun though was when I bought a steering wheel for my PS2 and got her to drive around in Midnight Club 3. She didn't really care about the races, but she had a blast just driving around listening to Marilyn Manson and watching pedestrians jump out of her way when she ran red lights and drove on the sidewalk.

She loves trivia in general too. There are even a couple of games that are hers: 2 of the Buzz series of trivia games and Friends: The One With All The Trivia.

Which I think is bullshit. Tetris Attack is an "Everyone Game". I contemplated crossplaying just to get into the tournament.
What that--I've played that game since getting a copy back in 1996 and this is the first time I hear about it being a girl game. It's the greatest puzzle game ever made and there's nothing girly about it.

my girlfriend loves guitar hero and dj hero. Music games can't go wrong with those. She loves to sing. Her friend plays guitar. I play drums. Rock band is a good one of course. Nintendo stuff is always popular to. I want a wii again so bad I hate that I sold my second one a few months back ( I think it was that far back)

Well, the game it was based on, Panel De Pon, has a very magical girl vibe. Been meaning to get my hands on a copy, actually, but that's something for another day.
