Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My wife (then girlfriend) was hooked on the original Sims when it first came out. Once she got the hang of it she'd annoy me by trying to model our future with her little Sim husband and Sim kids. She eventually got bored of it and vowed to give up gaming. Then she discovered Snood...

She was into Animal Crossing for a few weeks, then Wii Sports. Not much time for games now that the kids aren't virtual anymore.

I've always notice that girls like Rythm games, puzzle games and mini games, and those brain challenge games.

I also know a lot of girls that like the Resident evil games. And rail shooters. House of the dead 2 on Dreamcast would be good.

I've never met a girl who didn't love Space Channel 5: Part 2, and I've never met anyone who didn't like Rez, Samba De Amigo, Crazy Taxi, and The House of the Dead 2 - so those are things to keep in mind. For the most part, girls like intricate challenges like puzzle games and games that offer experiences (which is why rhythm simulations, light-hearted adventures, and life-simulators are so popular amongst women). You might want to try fun little puzzle games like Chu Chu Rocket!, Lumines, etc. light-hearted adventures like Wind Waker, Skies of Arcadia, etc., and life-simulators like The Sims and Animal Crossing. Also: Nintendo in general makes the average woman very happy; Super Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros., and anything featuring Kirby, Yoshi, or Donkey Kong usually work great for girls. For the most part, just try and keep your girlfriend's personality in mind - I'm speaking very generally with the examples I'm giving; your girlfriend might end up liking bullet-hell shooters and strategy RPGs for all we know. You can never be sure with a girl - just let her try out different things, and make sure she's not ignorant to sites like GameRankings.com and soforth when deciding on a game to buy.

this is a bit of a tough thing, as its never easy to categorise a game that girls will like.

For example, i have very little in the way of games involving violence or blood or suchlike, mostly because i often find that its shoehorned in where its unnecessary. I've always been a nintendoholic, so i've been letting my girlfriend try games like mario, harvest moon, animal crossing, mario kart and smash bros, all of which she enjoyed, but didnt seem very keen to come abck to. Instead, she purchased herself an Xbox 360 with batman arkham asylum, left 4 dead 1 &2, bully and Fable 2 (shes thinking about brutal legend and dragon age origins next - she has good taste), all games which i probably wouldnt have considered for myself, never mind for her XD.

On the other hand, she did enjoy my recommendation of castle crashers, and she enjoyed streets of rage 2 when i made her play that, so there may be hope yet XD
