DS Emulator Q's

Post by 8-bit Legend »

For Christmas I received CycloDS Evolution. Over the last few days I have successfully downloaded NesDS, SNEmulDS, and lameboy with most of the roms I want. Now I just have a few random questions.

What other emulators do you guys like to use on your DS?
Is it possible to copy the information on my microSD card with all my roms to my DS?
This might just be coolrom.com, but I can't find any Zelda roms for NES, SNES, or GB/GBC so where can I find them? Also the same q with the NES Mario games and gameboy Donkey Kong games.
Is there a decent Atari 2600 emulator for the DS?

Thanx

Zophar.net is your friend.

How large is the hard drive in your DS? :)

The Virtual Console on the Wii has them for download. "The Dump" by Harry Tuttle used to be good.

How can I tell how big my hardrive is? I've got the red and black DS. Not a DSi or the original DS but the more mainstream one.

:?
I think you need to do a bit more research into things before asking questions here, to be honest. Have fun researching!

You can't transfer info on your SD card onto your DS and there's no reason you would want to.

The roms you seek are easily found with Google searches.

The DS isn't very good for emulation. NesDS is ok, but it still has issues and is apparently no longer being developed. The only other emulator I use on the DS is ColecoDS. There is an Atari 2600 emulator, but it's not too fast and there haven't been any updates for it in years.

mmm..actually emulation on DS isnt that bad. Megadrive/genesis is pretty good for some games, Lameboy is good for gameboy, NeoDS is amazing for NeoGeo. SNES takes some tweeking. just have to try what you want to play and see what works best

It depends on the game. The sound on the Genesis emulator is messed up if you load a game from a save state, plus the DS screen resolution is lower than the Genesis so it makes a bit of a video problem. Same with the SNES, but not to the same extent (the Genesis runs at a higher res than the SNES). Some SNES games simply to not display properly, likewise with the sound. I find most SNES RPGs totally unplayable because of these issues. The high quality sound on Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger are totally garbled, while Earthbound has enough graphics issues that it just takes the fun out if it for me. Most (maybe 75%) older SNES games run fine, at least.

Lameboy's good. I forgot about that one. I only like 2 games (Tetris DX and Donkey Kong) out of the whole GB/GBC catalog, but they run great on Lameboy. I might have to try NeoDS, but NeoGeo games never much appealed to me other than the Metal Slugs and Bust-a-Moves and there are official DS versions for those. I'm not much for tweeking emulators. If it's too slow or doesn't work right, I'll just play it on the console or through a better emulator.
