So I'm stuck here at home getting raped by freezing rain and winds tonight, great night to catch up on some gaming. I thought about working on some Modern Warfare 2 with some buddies of mine from all over the world, but fuck it tonight I'm gonna game like its 1996, who needs those fancy 3D graphics and holly-wood style quality sound and writing with a bit of social interaction cause like they say they don't make them like they used to right?
So tonight I choose Final Fight 3 for the SNES, I've always been a fan of series when I was younger and just picked up the game a few days ago, to my delight, from the look of the label I see Haggar and Guy ready to whoop some ass, thankfully I will not have to look for a copy of Final Fight 3 Guy.
Final Fight 3 starts off with a intro explaining that the demise of the Mad Gear gang has been wiped out of Metro City, what seems to be a whole 10 minutes that the Mad Gear gang is gone the Skull Cross Gang becomes uno-number one scum bags to give poor old Mayor Haggar more trouble. Guy returns just in time from his martial arts training to visit Mayor Haggar wh who was one of the main characthers from Final Fight, stops at Mayor Haggar's office in Metro City for a friendly chat, all the sudden Lucia, from the Metro City Crime Unit, informs Mayor Haggar that his city is going down the shitter at the hands of the Skull Cross gang, then walks in Dean knowing the inner workings of the gang and location, Dean is a local street fighter with a secret agenda, this yellow spiky haired, electrified fighter......never mind.
So what are the Skull Cross gang up to you may ask??? Who knows and who cares there probably up to no good so we better beat seven shades of shit before they cause any more trouble.
So you get to choose between the 4 fighters, each with different speed, strength, and attacks and special attacks, for the play threw I choose Mayor Haggar, who else is gonna clean these streets up, and his jumping Neck Breaker into a Spinning Piledriver special is just badass.
You go threw different locations of Metro City, the streets, restaurants, junk yards, factories/warehouse, each stage (besides stage 1) has multiple paths that you can take will open up if you throw some thug into said door, window, or in case not break the bus route map and a bus will come to pick you up where you can beat more thug ass on your way to the next section of the stage, it adds a little bit of replay to see what locations you can go next and what end boss you will fight, sense what path you take may have a different boss fight, my personal favorite of mine was the generically Asian muscle bound freak Wong in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant, each of the boss fights are not exactly to hard, since they don't have an attack that will instantly hit you and kill you in seconds as were some complaints in the first two Final Fights.
Speaking of Boss battles the last one is bit of a giggle, you make it to the top of the HQ of the Skull Cross gang, which for a street gang looks pretty well organized and financially stable to have a huge sky scraper to plan there evil biddings to take over Metro City, anyway, you make it to the top after punching what seems to be a million bad guys in the stomach on the long walk down the hall way, you make it to the roof top where the helicopter lands and out comes Black, who looks exactly like Sagat from Street Fighter, if Sagat wore some black slacks, black boots and a red beret, even has the scars and eye patch on, was Capcom pressed for time when coming up with the end boss of the game? Now Sagat.... I mean Black is a bit more tricky, he's kick on his feet, can throw knives, hit you with a whip, dose Zangiefs spinning lariat, and Ryu's fire ball's. Once you get the idea how to avoid each of Sagat's moves he's not much of a challenge, Once he is near death he happens to stand next to an electric box for you to drop kick into, kind of reminds me of the scene in the movie Double Impact when Van Damne spin kicks Bolo Yeung, that scary huge Korean guy from Bloodsport, in the face into a circuit breaker, (man the 90's kicked ass).
Well once Black has been fried, you go into the ending cut scene, Mayor Haggar thanks everyone and while Dean walks away with some cliché line that his journey isn't over (how many games have you seen Dean in scene?). Fuck me I bet Mayor Haggar has allot of paperwork to do.
All in all, I had a fun time with this game, may not go down as one of Capcom's greatest or in the Beat em Up' genre as one of the best, if you can find this game cheap give it a go you won't be disappointed, cause they don't make em like they used to.
Thanks for reading

Re: Final Fight 3
Less talk of story and more talk of gameplay.
You entirely brushed over the super special moves in this game, which pretty much sets it apart from the first two. Likewise the CPU controlled second player, which no other scrolling fighting game in history offers.

Re: Final Fight 3
yea should of covered that more, figured that most people know what Final Fight was that they'd already know what kind of gameplay you'd be instored for.
Feel like a total dumbass for not talking about the 2 player com partner

I enjoyed reading that... Keep 'em coming!
More gameplay talk would be nice, but I enjoyed your take on the story.

As you progress, choosing which direction to travel will result in a different experience every time you play, extending the fun and the replay value. There's also a two-player option, where you can band together with a friend or let the computer control your partner.
Re: Final Fight 3
All three of the Final Fight games were great, and this one ranks slightly lower than the second one only because of the slowdown issues.Final Fight 3 is fairly impressive, especially compared to previous entries. There's plenty of detail and variety in the various backdrops you'll fight your way through, and all four characters are drawn and animated well.

Re: Final Fight 3
I like this one more then number 2 which IMO is pretty boring for a Beat Em Up with so much potential. Obviously the the Final Fight 1 Arcade or Sega CD version is the best ever. It rattles my mind though how for the longest time I thought Final Fight series was better then Streets of Rage and I was wrong.
