Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I ordered mine from Thinkgeek and it arrived about 5 days ago. It doesn't have a pawprint on the back, and I'm waiting for the minisd card to arrive. Hadn't heard about the compatibility problems so I home dingux works OK for me. Some of the native os emulators I added to it are a bit crashy, but overall I'm really impressed by the performance and compatibility. It's an awesome handheld. I especially like the way it scales the graphics when necessary. It's way clearer and cleaner looking than the PSP or DS scaling methods.
So-far on the native OS I've got CPS1, CPS2, GameGear, GBA, GBC, GB, Genesis, Lynx, SMS, NeoGeo MVS, NeoGeo Pocket Color, NES, PC Engine, SNES, Wonderswan, and the 2 types of built-in games. The 4 GB of space let me put nearly every good rom for all those systems on it at once. Aside from a few of the bigger MVS games, I don't really need more space on it. I expect the MiniSD card will have plenty of room for movies when I get the last of the games I want on it. Movie playback is really great on it too BTW - most videos don't need to be reencoded to play back smoothly - it even supports FLV Youtube format.
I just got the GP2X Wiz a couple of days ago too, and so-far I'd say it's only got a bit better performance. I don't think the extra money, size and weight make it a worthwhile investment pitted against the Dingoo as far as emulation goes. The one thing the Wiz has going for it is the ported games. X-Com, Abuse, Quake, etc. The thing is most of the homebrew stuff on the Dingoo is ported from PSP or GP2X sources so there'll probably be a lot more stuff showing up shortly.

Edit:
After looking up the incompatibility, it appears many of the crashes I've been having are the result of the different hardware in my Dingoo. There's already a fix for GNUBoy to correct the memory leak. Glad to see that the problems are being worked out so fast :).

Since we're already talking about it here, how are the d-pad and buttons on the Dingoo?
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

Dpad is nice..a little short for pulling combos on fighters but good for everything else. All the other buttons are really nice with the exception of the shoulder buttons being clicky and small. Definitely room for improvement but overall good.

i just ordered one today for $82USD

quick question

when charging the unit, can you just USB to your laptop and does it charge?

if you are using the USB wall charger - do you have to use a stepdown converter if you live in a 220 volt country i.e. Australia/UK as opposed to USA?

I'm not sure, but I've heard that you can "over charge" them and cause a rainbow effect on the screen. Just like the iPod.

Dingux isn't that hard to install, and it adds a whole pile more emulators as well as a bunch of ported games. Everything that works on it comes in a premade pack, just add roms, bioses and original game-files for whatever you want to play. It's well worth adding, and you don't loose anything since it's dual-booted (hold select while turning the dingoo on).

I got one of these for Christmas, after only really hearing a little bit about them - out of the box the native GBA emulator is fantastic! I'm having some problems with windows 7 (others have too, and the usual fix doesn't seem to be working for me, more of a problem on my end I think) so I've been doing a lot of stuff straight from the flash card, and I'm loving it so far. I'm really excited to finally get to play Mother 3, plus TV out is a really cool feature that I wish more handhelds included!
