Anyone else have a Gen Mobile? I'm having some problems...
I just got a Gen Mobile for Christmas and I suspect something is wrong with it. The speakers sound extremely tinny and the in game music and sound effects are really weird. It still sounds this way when I use head phones, but when I connect it to the TV it sounds fine. Also, the volume control knob doesn't appear to work. Is this just mine, or is everyone's like this?

I almost ordered one of these today... maybe I'll wait and see how this plays out. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with it man! Could you try returning it?

I'm strongly considering a return and exchange, but I was hoping to see if anyone else was having the same issue.

I think I heard the Gen Mobile was a piece of shit. I was gonna get one too...

The unit feels sturdy (albeit hollow), the buttons aren't as good as a Genesis controller but they're decent; it's very slim (almost smaller than a Genny cart), has great battery life, and the screen has really saturated color and eliminates the motion blur problems the Nomad had.
The screen is a little... small. The picture quality's great, it's just really tiny. The sound is questionably emulated, resulting in chiptunes that are slightly off pitch. Combine that with the weird speaker/headphone jack output problems on my unit (which are very scratchy and tinny), and the music from Streets of Rage 2 and Sonic sounds, to put it bluntly, like ear rape.
Also, the volume control knob doesn't work, which is unacceptable when I'm in a public place. I suspect this is a specific problem with my unit... it'd be nice if I could check against another Racketboy member though.

I just ordered one along with the Retrogen. Hopefully it won't have this problem.

I ended up ordering one of these, so I'll let you know what the deal is with mine.

I'm currently on the fence about picking up a Retrogen. Please keep us all updated

I am wanting one of these two handhelds (retrogen or gen mobile) but I hear that the retrogen wont work with Phantasy Star 4 and Bloodlines - two of the games I want to play on it.
By any chance can either of you confirm if Phantasy Star or Bloodlines work on the Gen Mobile?
Thanks

Id get the RetroGen..... I love it! the Screen is Incredible and the controls are great other than playing Street Fighter and SNK Fighter Games. Many games are side scroller platformed anyways. So--- Other than that, the RETROGEN is an Awesome Purchase. And at this point....I have not ran across a game I have had an issue with yet!.
The D pad on the retrogen and the silver buttons look cheap but suprisingly--- they work really good! As for the sound.... the Sound really depends on the game but I thought really the retrogen would dish out worse sound than it does, so I was surprised again! Sonics look incredible on it!
Glad I purchased the retrogen over the Gen Mobile. I know the game has 20 sega games but Id rather get the carts anyway.
