Rez HD

Post by jfe2 »

Damn, this game is AWESOME! The Turtle Beach 5.1 surround sound headphones make it even better. The music in this game is just epic.

I've played it in the past, but tonight I downloaded it on XBLA and played to the end of the fourth stage in one sitting. The boss on that stage is pretty rad, but he ended up kicking my ass after a while. I felt like I almost had him beat, but he started shooting buttloads of missiles at me and that was the end of that.

One quick question for Rez vets, is the fifth level unlockable, or will it just open up when I beat the fourth? Again, this game is a blast!

You know I was about to buy Rez hd today because my dc copy just isn't working and because it was half off today, just to find out I literally missed the sale by a minute.

When you beat the fourth it unlocks the fifth. Since you got all the way to the fourth on a single life you didn't see that it has everything locked until you get to it. Then once you beat the fifth level you unlock bonus levels.

The 5th level has the craziest music.

I have a copy of Rez from the bad EU batch, so sometimes even holding my dreamcast upside down with a 32.5 degree angle while standing on one foot isn't enough to get it to work. Sometimes it is... >.>

The 5th level is unlocked when you analyze each stage 100%. That means you have to get all of those cubes for it to work.

I've tried to beat the fourth level boss twice today, but he starts to hit me for massive damage after awhile, and there doesn't seem to be a way to avoid the attacks. I'll give it another shot later today... Luckily the game is a blast, so it doesn't feel like a chore to play it!

Really? I wasn't aware it was possible not to get those cubes. I thought you had to get each one to move on to the next section of a stage.

I thought the same thing!

Well, I just ended up beating the bastard of a boss from level 4, and then going right on to finish the game. I have to say, the entire sequence leading up to the end is pretty epic stuff. I am now a full fledged Rez fanatic.

Finishing this actually inspired me to try and finish Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Zwei. I tried to play through them when I first bought them but I had a bit of trouble about four or five levels in on the first game. There's a boss that flies around in this tunnel that owned me pretty bad...

Hehe, rez is why I ended up buying orta.

Really you can finish the level without getting the cube each time? That's odd, they didn't make it seem that way.

Simply a fantastic re-release. One of the examples of how to do it right, along with Ikaruga, R-Type Dimensions, Bionic Commando Rearmed, and a few others. There's no excuse for ROM dumps any more, like what Sega and Namco do with some of their games.
