god, I really need to learn the system on this game better. Busting a 1CC on Maniac mode was no problem through level 3. Then I tried to actually score points hahaha. Maybe I'll wimp out and just play arranged mode. The repel system is something I just haven't looked into, the shmup's forum post I found didn't really explain that part. Is it just a special shot or character swap?

Let me try and explain the system in Arrange (just the repel mechanic, not the scoring).

At the bottom of your screen you'll see two numbers. The one on the left is the "charge" of your controlled character, while the one on the right is the "charge" of the other character. As long as the other character has some charge it can set up a repel shield. This shield will greatly slow down (but not stop) all bullets that come into contact with it. I believe by buzzing these bullets your non-controlled character will build up charge. Killing dudes with your rapid fire weapon will increase your controlled character's charge. Finally, you can repel slowed down bullets by holding down shot. This will deplete the non-controlled character's charge (X amount per bullet reflected). Thus, you need to balance the use of both characters to ensure you always have charge for the repel shield (as the bullet barrages, even in normal, are rather extreme). There is one other thing that arrange has. If both characters max out their charge (9999) you can hold down A to enter Hyper mode. This will rapidly deplete both characters' charges but allows both of them to fire their hold weapon and all bullets will be reflected. This gives you great amounts of damage but leaves you vulnerable at the end (no charge left).

I'm so close to picking this up... It's been in my cart all weekend, but I just don't know if I want to commit to buying it just yet. I just ordered Beggar Prince from Super Fighter Team, and I'm not sure if I want to spend a bunch of money all at once.

This game looks great though! I'm seriously right on the fence here...

Anyone venture into practice mode yet? You can play any stage (or any boss). And if you put lives on infinite, you can fight the true last boss of Ultra mode. Remember that Youtube video? There's a boss after that (can't ever continue to get to it, but infinite lives fix that easy).

I played the crap out of this game for 2 weeks, and now I am sick of it. I am back to Radiant Silvergun. Again.
