Racketboy price guide....

Post by wclem »

What do you guys think of creating a value/price guide on this site? I have noticed that some people use price guide websites, some use amazon, others use ebay completed listings and for some reason some use "buy it now".

I was thinking this would help in the BST thread. Also I think there is ab outside just we can help to influence to stabalize the market. We could do it on popular games or all games or some other version.

Anyway, I thought I would throw this out, it would probably take a mod or two to make it happen.

What do you all think? Are any mods interested?

That's going to be a lot of work. Its a good idea, but unless someone created a program or spider to collect and aggregate data from the various sources and then tweak it regularly, that would be a full time job.

Personally I think the Video Game Price Charts is one of the best out there, and would be hard to match.

Maybe if anything it should be stickied in the BST forums so people know to go there first if in doubt.

Good idea though.

True but its pretty good to get a rough estimate. Plus after you search an item you can click the ebay or amazon or whatever link to throw you to that site and compare prices with condition of the game.

Otherwise it is really hard to keep an accurate track of games values based on their conditions and not just on their general lowest price, which is what VGPC tends to do, because not all listings for auctions or what not have an accurate description of condition in the first place.

But you CAN see the games general value over the past few months, which is valuable in determining your price and whether or not you do in fact want to sell the item based on it's past trends.

Yeah, VGPC can be misleading.

To make it easier I think multiple people can handle one system each.

I also think ebay "completed auctions" is a great way. That shows exactly what games sold for, not an average asking price. Unless I am wrong VGPC includes what people are asking for doesnt it?

Ebay completed auctions is the best way imo. I mean, that is what you can get for a game or get games for.

I use the ebay completed listing option all the time to figure out how much something is worth. Only time that doesn't work for me is when I am looking for a rare game that just doesn't come up much on ebay.

the online rarity guide is good and updated a fair bit i think. gives a rough price based on rarity mostly.
