How do I tell what Saturn model I have?

Post by newt42 »

I'm a total noob when it comes to Saturn stuff. I keep hearing terms like Model 1 and Model 2. The Racketboy guides say that there are distinguished instructions for installing mod chips on different models.

The back of my Saturn says:

Model No.: MK-8000
Power Source: AC 120V 60Hz 25W

Any halp?

EDIT: Its North American.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Do you have oval buttons and a led on the front that indicates the disc is reading?
You have a model 1.

Do you have circle buttons?
You have a model 2.

In case you didnt know the swap trick is really easy on a model 1 Saturn (I think its easy on a model 2 as well but whatever) so doing that might hold you over until you get your chip.

I modded my model 2 in a snap. I hear a model 1 is rather difficult to mod, good luck.
