Is there something wrong with the Genesis or just the games?

I recently bought Golden Axe 2 and Elemental Master for my genesis. However, they seem to think random buttons are on turbo, and react strangely to the start and left and right buttons. However, I played Battletoads and Double Dragon, and the controls were fine. Is it a coincidence or should I get a new genesis?

no there is nothing wrong with the genesis. If your using a 6 button controller then what u need to do is either get a 3 button controller or hold the mode button on the 6 button controller before you put on the system and hold down the mode button before you start the game

Sounds like there's an issue with your controller. Try a different one.

I remember controller problems with Golden Axe II as well when I was using a six button. I was testing out my wireless Sega brand pads for the first time and it was really confusing. I don't remember the exact problem or the details about it, but I think its a problem with Golden Axe II, not your genesis or your controller.

I'm almost positive there is a compatibility issue with 6 button controllers and a few Genesis titles, including Golden Axe II.

If I remember correctly, you should try holding down the little 'mode' button for a few seconds as you turn on your console (with Golden Axe in it, obviously).

If that doesn't work, your controller might be broken.

This is good to know. A six button controller came with the Genesis I got my kids for Christmas, and I was wondering why it wasn't working properly when I tested it with GA 2.
