Almost makes me wonder how the idea formed in the first place. Probably has to do with success.
That what sucks about being famous, you have ROLE MODEL forced on you, not to mention permanently giving up ANY notion of privacy you may have ever had in your life.

I'll take rich, minus the famous thank you very much.

Course being a rock star is cool, no one expects them to have a clean cut, role model life

Very likely it has to do with the sheer determination that seems to be required to be at the top of a field. All / Most / many top athletes need to train a LOT / eat specific diets and so on and so forth.

I think you're all spending too much time talking about people feeling like athletes should be role-models. I was serious when I said it was all about the money. Tiger Woods doesn't need to fix his reputation so that little kids can look up to him again. He needs to fix his reputation so that everyone looks up to him and he can attract endorsement deals again.

This is exactly what I wanted to avoid in this topic. Like I stated, let's not make this about his personal life, but how as his PR manager, how do "fix" his current predicament.

I think taking a break is a good idea, but it also shows that he feels like he is entitled to quit his job and come back as he wishes. I doubt that would happen in team sports. That would be like Tom Brady saying, "Sorry guys, I'm taking a break. I might play in the playoffs, I don't know. Personal stuff". And certainly this wouldn't fly in the real world, but then again, Tiger doesn't live in the real world.

I also think he should get back into the "sport" as soon as he can. He should also seek some sort of counsel from someone who has gone through a similar situation, and who is also high profile. Bill Clinton comes to mind. It almost seems like Clinton was let off easy compared to Tiger. Clinton even lied straight to every American on television.

What is most likely to be paramount to his comeback is his attitude on the golf course. If someone shouts out "Cheater!" when he's about to swing, he better let it roll off his shoulder and that goes for his caddy too. I don't think that situation will happen often, but I'm sure it will happen a few times. He's made his bed, now he's got to sleep in it. He's got to be a "big boy" about it. So far, he really hasn't.

I mean, we are talking about someone who, every morning for the rest of his life, can wake up and do almost anything he wants. Buy an island in Norway? Sure. Travel around the globe? No problem. Purchase Microsoft? Well, that may be stretching it. But if wants to keep a high approval rate in the court of public opinion, I say get rid of the "I'm entitled to my privacy" routine, suck it up, and go out and win some majors.

He should just have an exposition match against Mario. That would distract the public. Just be sure and keep Princess Peach away from the clubhouse.

You can say I have been living under a rock, but what did he do exactly?
Just commit adultery?

You see I don't get it, in the West its probably the only place where marriage is a disadvantage.

It is socially acceptable to:
-Live with a female/male
-bring up children
-act like married people
- each keeps his money

Now lets look at marriage:
-You make a party that costs you money
-Your partner takes away half your money(how is that fair?)
-In a place where socializing with the other sex is only second nature, don't you think married people probably will slip up and get engaged with the other sex, at least some will.

There is no advantage to being married the way I see it in the western world. So Tiger , why did you get married?
If he wasn't, everyone will be like "Oh its just his girlfriend thats ok". "Oh he is just having fun, all people do". But now that he is married, its the biggest sin of all.

I say, if I was his PR I would do this:
-Expose more of Tiger Woods to the people, show that he is just another human, like a documentary/biography thing. Make more people impressed by his life.
-Maybe run a campaign about how other people did worse things, and humans are vulnerable to mistakes.
-Show any good deeds Tiger did before this crisis happening, just to show he was good person all along, he is not doing it just to fix his reputation.
-Public Apology is a must, people like an honest person, they look down upon liars , unless you can legally show that you are innocent(even if you are not, maybe like OJ's trial?)
-Keep playing, he is lucky he is the best at what he does, people will have to praise him for scoring tournaments. You can't have headlines like "The Sex Scandal guy wins the biggest golf tournament!" , it will be more like "Tiger Woods on top again!" .

Worst case scenario , he has been playing for a long time and earning a lot. He doesn't need publicity or sports any more.

Last but not least, call me crazy but, I think it will boost his image if he over pays all parties involved in his problem promising to take care of them and helping them in their careers and opening opportunities for them. It will show how much he regrets it and he is trying to open a new page with everyone.

how about that?
