"PR"pg

Post by Luke »

Not a very clever title, I know.

But, and let's try to take this somewhat seriously, if you were Tiger Wood's Public Relations manager, how would you handle this current predicament?

Let's also not make this about what he is going through, but keep focus on what you would do to maintain a positive public image for him.

The best way for people to forget is for him to keep playing and winning. Lets say first he kept playing and all of the recent events didn't mess up his head game. He stays on top as the leader. Maintains his status. That's how he will be remembered. Unphased by anything. Always dominating.

But alas, it seems as though he is going to "take a break." Makes sense because if he played he'd probably play poorly right now anyways. And really no ones gonna cut him any breaks. The problem is he could downward spiral. Truelly ending his career.

The other problem with taking a break now is that if he waits a few years and then goes back - even if he beats everyone when he returns, he will always be remembered for taking a haiatus after banging 10 chicks at the same time.

I think he should take a break, but make it short. Also, he should make a very clear public apology directed squarely at his wife. During the divorce that I'm pretty sure is unavoidable at this point, I think he should give his wife substantially more than any prenup or anything requires. Also, I think he should go to rehab for sexual addiction, but not make any public statements about it.

Ted Kennedy (allegedly) got away with murder, so I think Woods can make a decent comeback.

He'll probly end up doing what most celebrities do in a situation like this. Make a big public apology at a press conference followed by a two-way path: either spiral into the end of his career, or continue to live his life in success, forgeting about the past and the inevitable divorce.

Also, think of it this way. What do most people do once they go into retirement? They play golf! Tigers job is lifelong!

I'd hire Kobe's PR manager. He got his share of jokes back then but you don't hear it anymore.

I think people are making too big of a deal out of all of this. All that matters is that he plays golf really good and makes several million dollars doing it, so who cares what he does in his private life.

I don't know, I think that whatever his PR is doing is working pretty well. Compared to other scandals this one is getting a comparably lower amount of coverage, especially when you consider how relevant Tiger Woods is.

The big issue is endorsements, imo. That's where he makes most of his money, and that was largely based on his public image as a very stable, focused, clean-living guy.

Because people seem to think that athletes make good role models. Some do, but then there are so many that don't.

Almost makes me wonder how the idea formed in the first place. Probably has to do with success.
