Super Metroid

Post by Fester »

I'm looking for games similar to Super Metroid for the Mega Drive.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Zillion via the Master Converter?
Mega Turrican (kind of...)
Flashback (maybe, sort of, but not really)
Wonderboy V: Monster World III (a bit of a stretch)
Monster World IV (also a stretch)
The Valis games (not really)
B.O.B. (well, sort of... but more linear)

To be honest, none of these games really feel like Metroid at all. If you want to play a Metroid-type game on the MD/Genny, you're out of luck. These games are about as close as your going to get.

Does Kid Chameleon count at all? It's not really open world, but the levels are enormous.

Phantom 2040, it is a cool platformer and you get weapon upgrades(like Missiles) have a cool blaster kinda like Samus', a grappling hook and get new abilities, it reminds me of Super Metroid alot. Checkout some gameplay videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sQC9jJW ... re=related
