So I can't speak for where you are, but back in Illinois it was illegal to drive around with chains. The whole place is flat and they are very good about plowing ASAP so they don't want you tearing up the road.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:No one even seems to have a pair of chains or any other equipment for a car in the winter like windshield scrapers, seasonal snow tires, etc... which frankly is just ridiculous and irresponsible!

It's legal here as far as I know.MrPopo wrote:So I can't speak for where you are, but back in Illinois it was illegal to drive around with chains. They seriously don't have a single plow in my area and all the major roads are still covered in ice, snow and debris. It's like watching cars play pinball!

Here, you can drive on the back roads and intermittent roads, but not main roads like Interstates and major Routes.MrPopo wrote:So I can't speak for where you are, but back in Illinois it was illegal to drive around with chains. Back in like 98 or 99 the snow got so deep here that I dug tunnels under the snow that you could crawl around in and it was frozen over so you could also walk on the top of the snow with out falling in. It was CRAZY. No school for about 3 weeks (but also no power).
You know you would be surprised at how you can adapt and find ways to have fun with no power for the better part of a month.
I went outside about 2 hours ago and the snow was now up to my knees and still coming down HARD!

Crikey, we get 4 inches over here and the entire country shuts down. It's rediculous. I love it when it snows, we never get much though
. Although since moving to our little bungalow on the top of a hill we seemed to have been hit the worst by the snow (they don't salt the roads up here, only the main ones), even still, it was only 4 inches. The UK is a complete joke.

Snow made a liar out of me. It is coming down hard here in the Philly area - I have heard it is already at 6 inches in some places. Dogs are enjoying it.
