Don't know if it makes a difference, but I run all my games from ISOs.
But I used Mooby's plugin
I can't verify any stats, but I stand by my statement that I never noticed any load times greater than that of a Gamecube game.
Getting bored with retro gaming?

Mozgus, I can't account for your particular hardware configuration or really anything else. When I played them briefly over a year ago loading times were improved over sitting in front of a TV with a real Playstation. The emulated data interface does not throttle data loading to 2x unless instructed to by a plug-in.
I'll give an example from another emulator. I use Ootake and Magic Engine to play PC Engine CD games. Loading times are drastically reduced for both ISOs and CDRs.
I have no reason to believe ePSXe throttles its data interface, or that it even needs to, to make games work. And frankly, to do so by default would be stupid and largely unecessary.

Bored of retro gaming? More like bored of modren gaming! I find more gems from retro gaming that I previously missed out on than I ever find on modren systems, of which most of the games don't grab me at all. The Dreamcast for me was the last console I treuly got excited about every week when the new games would arrive. I bought a Gamecube as my next system, seeing as Sega were out I decided to go with my 2nd favorite game console developer, but I never found myself getting all too excited about the releases some time after the first six months...there just wasn't enough of them and the "big" games didn't grab me enough.
I was actually considering opting out of buying a next-gen system unless something new came along that'd be more than just a graphics push, but Nintendo caught me by surprise with the Wii and suddenly had me excited for gaming again, as I was hoping for a bunch of new freash ideas to start happening. So far...that hasn't really happened but at least the Wii has been more interesting than the NGC so far and I'm hoping they really seep into it's potenial soon, as so far it's not quite there for me.
As for handheld gaming, I have a GBA and all but...I just don't seem to play handhelds much. I prefer to play games in front of a telly. I have considered a DS but I keep worrying it's gonna sit unplayed like my GBA which mainly only comes out with me for the Wario ware titles for a few 10 minutes blasts. The one hand held I will honestly sit down and spend some quality time with is the neo geo Pocket...XD
As for retro gaming, there is so much I haven't played, so many titles that catch my interest on an almost weekly basis, and I find myself reading up into all sorts that I don't think I'll ever grow tired of retro gaming...at least not for a long time yet.
