Why is anime synonymous with gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Why is anime synonymous with gaming?

Post by jp1 »

It seems like nearly every gamer is an anime fan. While many are everything Japanese fans as well. I don't have anything against it but I am just curious why they seem to go hand in hand.

i feel its mainly because most games (especially rpg's) come from Japan. many of the kids who watch anime will most likely state that rpg's are their favorite genera. now also add in the fact that most Jrpg's play out like an anime would or have anime style picture. also, there is a possiblity that it's just mere coincidence......but i doubt it. also i concure with Mr.popo.

I am not a big Anime fan. I like some of the movies but thats it. Too many of the shows seem to play alot like Latino Soap operas. I do like Crayon Shin Chan though.

I like RPGs, and a lot of anime-styled ones, like Valkyria Chronicles, Izuna and Disgaea. I don't actually like anime at all, but I like those games in spite of their anime style. I get embarrassed of the style honestly.

good point on that. but i figure it can work in different ways. obviously not all people like anime and video games in the same style. and i didn't put that into consideration. sorry for automatically pegging people.

That used to be more prevalent, honestly. Nowadays the Western games industry has took over a lot of the market that was once occupied by Japanese publishers and concomitantly the intersection between anime fans and gamers has become smaller.

In fact, about every week I see someone on a gaming website go on and on about how anime is ridiculous, cliché, how they can't stand JRPGs, their formulaic settings and characters, etc, etc.

I don't think anime has anything to do with gaming.

i personally enjoy anime. i won't lie. but and i love jrpg's. anime has started to go down for me because the lack of originality....so why doesn't it for jrpg's, i wonder. i realize that they are becoming unoriginal, i can see it, yet i still enjoy myself....i wonder why. most of the time when it comes to anime i look for pure originality and obscure, due to me wanting to be less associated with fanboys/girls (basically weeaboo's) but you just don't see that as much these days. i found it in mushishi in 2007 but i can't really remember after that much.
