My school still hasn't blocked this site.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

As far as i know my high school now blocks this site as well. at first it wasn't but eventually they got around to it. i could easily get around it but being my senior year and since i booked myself this year, i haven't had the time to even care. since i like to do my work at school and not have to worry about anything (besides occasional studying) so i can relax.

Not trolling - I really do hate any sort of a block on anything.

But, do you know WHY there is a block?

Remember, for every responsible person (I am going to assume so, 90% of the people on this site have pretty good grammar) there are 20 others that don't know that there is a right place/time to check something, and a wrong place/time. Plus, remember that computers are still very expensive. Even at the cheap five hundred dollar price point, to fill a whole school with them quantifies the expenses. It is hella hard to keep on replacing them. Best way to preserve them? Put a block on anything (yes, unfortunately even games) that could compromise the system. I can't tell you the times that I have gone to use a school computer in the past and simply shook my hand in the air with anger that people defaced the computer in some way. Remember, SOMEBODY actually pays for these things - they only want to make sure that they can keep them running for all to use. I do mind, but once I think about this, I reconsider, and move on.

Edit: as for some sites (like YouTube) they are bandwith hogs to the max. Remember, a school network = 100+ computers. You don't want Google to load in 2 mins right?

My school didn't even block torrent sites. I downloaded like every SNES rom at school and I'd always play them during computer classes. We were even allowed to use Facebook.

Nonsense. Anyone maintaining a computer lab should set up multiple user accounts with restricted permissions. That way, anything one user does can't affect the system as a whole. If you still have trouble, reimage the OS overnight. Blocking web content has nothing to do with keeping the system running.

At my old junior high school, (I'm in high school right now) there were a few emulator websites that weren't blocked. Me and like 10 other people spent most of our graphic design class playing Super Smash Bros on an N64 emulator. Fondest memory being when four sets of hands tried to crowd around one keyboard for multiplayer.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Is there anyway to get past iprism without using a proxy? My school system's tech people are soooo anal. Sites that would benefit the students are even blocked. I think the only reason we even have interenet is for the attendence/gradebook program.
