Funny.....first time I saw a PSP I thought to myself...finally Sony found another use for the MD....

haha, me too. In fact when you look at a UMD, it's sort of like why didn't Sony just use an MD drive on the PSP? It would have been a lot easier for them I'd assume.

I would guess that a big part of the decision is due to minidiscs being magnetic media.
