What Operating Systems do you use daily

I used to use Ubuntu, but sadly it cant do everything i need it to do, so i switched back to XP, and yesterday i installed a retail copy of Windows 7

I usually use Ubuntu, but I've lately been using WinXP Pro because I've been making a bunch of custom covers in Photoshop and printing them off.

Photoshop CS2 at least works well in Wine. You must know about the Gimp I'm sure. There's also Inkscape if you do vector stuff.

Using virtualized Win32 to develop (can't get rid of VisualStudio)
Using AmigaOS because it just rocks when dealing with retro games

Windows XP because I know how to use it. Also I love redesigning the driver beehives too. One of my top 10 favorite things to do while hacking XP's mainframe exfoliators.

ubuntu 9.10

used to be windows xp, used windows since win 95, right up to xp. still got xp on the laptop.

changing to ubuntu was the best move I made. No longer under microsofts control, free to do what I want to whatever I want when I want. Also everything worked, no need to waste time installing drivers or any other nonsense. Plug and play in minutes.

the start up is less than half that of windows.

the mrs thinks its a lot easier to use than windows as well which I agree with.

I would never go back to windows just like I refuse to pay to go on xbox live gold.

I use Windows 7 64bit and Snow Leopard on my laptop. 90% of the time I use windows because I need a handful of Windows only programs and doing 3d modeling in a virtual machine is a pain.
I used to use Ubuntu frequently but there's just no space for 3 oses on my laptop. I wish there was though, the window management in OSX totally blows in comparison to Ubuntu and 7.

For work and composition I use OS X on a daily basis, the studios run OS 10.6. Although it's really not liking certain plugins for Pro Tools 8, so we may have to roll back. It's what came pre-installed when we bought our new Mac Pros.

At home I use my Macbook Pro running OS 10.5 plugged into my standard studio setup.

I also have a gaming rig, [email protected] + 4GB RAM + HD4870 running Windows 7 Pro x64.

I favour OS X for all my work/compositional stuff since it's so much faster from a work point of view, anything that needs to be done in batches I can create a shell script in minutes. All the shortcuts work in all the programs, so I only need to know one set of shortcuts. Plus I can navigate the entire OS without using a mouse. Can't do that in Windows.

However for video editing, I use Windows 7, since I can get stuff done so much faster on my gaming rig with Premiere CS4 (it's multi-threaded). I'd use final cut on my mac, but for rendering it just doesn't do it fast enough, I can get the same job done in a quarter of the time on my gaming rig. It chews through 1080p rendering. Takes roughly 0.75x realtime to render fairly complex videos.

So what kind of amiga are you using ?

Basically, I'm using a Amiga 600 with 4Gb FlashCard (HDD) + 2Mb Fast RAM + 2Mb Chip RAM + 4Gb FlashCard PCMCIA (for Mac/Amiga file transfert) + registered WHDLoad. This machine is just awesome ; I have something like 100+ games where 20 really worth it.
