I don't have all the details yet, but as long as my health insurance will cover any serious injuries, I'll be in an MMA match in Greenville, NC in mid-March.

My upstairs neighbor, who is a former Marine, has been trying to get me to sign up for a fight for around two years. I've been sparring with guys with all different experience in MMA matches the past few months, and I feel like I'm up for it. I still need to improve on my ground work, but my striking is pretty solid. I wasn't a goon when I played hockey, but I did my share of scrapping.

The matches aren't set yet, in fact, the exact date isn't even set yet, but hopefully in a few months from now I'll be posting youtube videos of me either kicking ass, or getting my ass kicked. Either way, it should be entertaining.

Fine by me. I seriously doubt I'll get "beaten pretty badly", but if so, no biggie. What would really shock me is if I got knocked out. Some of my posts might prove the fact that I've taken some huge hits to the noggin, but have never been hit hard enough to get knocked out. Plus, my nose has been broken a few times before, so I'm not worried about that.

My only hope is that my match is against someone who also has an MBA. Not saying we're all nerds, but I like my chances against another business geek than someone fresh out of prison.

yes and no. There's a lot of conspiracy surrounding his death. He was apparently not a heroin user, so there's a lot of speculation that he was actually murdered and that it was meant to look like an OD. See Unsolved Mysteries: Bizarre Murders for further details, guy.

I'll definitely check it out. I vaguely remember seeing a special on him on ESPN in the late 90's. It was one of those ESPN "Gone before their time" shows.

The fights are based on weight and experience, so hopefully I won't end up fighting a short stocky guy. Those guys I just try to knock out asap, as I don't want to grapple with them, it's like trying to wrestle with a basketball. But, unlike anyone I've sparred with, I'm not afraid to use "Your Mom" jokes during a fight. On a plus side for me, it's bare-knuckle fighting. I always lead with left jabs. Being that my right fist is nearly 3 inches longer than my left, I'd say 80-90% of the time I connect with my first right handed jab.

I heavily doubt my opponent will be on Racketboy, so I don't mind sharing. And if for some reason he is on here, I like my odds against another gamer.
