No Korean Dreamcast? What a tragedy! Well.. That explains how Starcraft took hold over there!molotovwars wrote:I don't think there is a Korean Dreamcast. There are no Korean Dreamcast games. Everything I've seen for Dreamcast has been Japanese.

Re: Korean Samsung Sega Products [UPDATED + PICS]
I haven't found a lot of stuff for non-mainstream systems. Sega and Nintendo check. MSX, Turbografx, etc. nope. Haven't even found any SMS stuff yet. Just one item that I may pick up later.
However, tons of great Mega Drive finds. And two recent very successful eBay sales. Uzu Keobukseon sold for $153.50 and Super Game 270 sold for $103.50. Throughout my collecting here I've started a photo album with detailed captions to document my finds, at least for Korean exclusives etc. Here is the album:

Awesome work molotovwars. Before this thread the only Korean Genesis game I knew of was Uzu Keobukseon. Which, now that youve played, how is it?

Uzu Keobukseon has grown on me. At first I thought it was complete shit, but they may just as much attribute to its difficulty. It is really easy to die and when you do you get sent back in the level rather than continuing at the exact place you died. So dying does not help you get past a difficult part. You can hold down the A button to fire, but its not a continuous stream of bullets. It is registered the same as pressing A over and over so just short bursts of fire.fastbilly1 wrote:Awesome work molotovwars. I did a little better just playing it now, but it really takes practice. You shoot 3 bullets at once. One straight ahead, then one on the left and right going generally forward but angled. I have to learn to use those left and right shots more as most enemies shoot straight down. The other thing about the games difficulty is that it is very cramped. There isn't a lot of space to dodge. And you'll be forced to use the very bottom of the screen while dodging one group of circling enemies with some still coming in from the left and right side of the screen (which have different shot patterns).
I also discovered today that on that Super Game 270 cartridge are two exclusive Korean SMS games. Dooly the Dinosaur and Toto World 3. I haven't played them much. Dooly the Dinosaur was like a hybrid of a run and gun and a horizontal shmup. Toto World 3 reminds me of like Bonks Adventure or something, but I've actually never played a Bonk game, but in Toto World 3 you've got a club I think. I'll test it out later tonight.
I also just found a copy of Super Boy IV, which is a Mario hack/clone fiasco. I made a poor video of it running here:
Awhile ago, a copy of Super Boy II was sold on eBay. Super Boy 1, 2, and 3 were SMS games and the 4th game in the series was for the Mega Drive. Here is the auction link:

I am learning so much about the Korean retro scene, especially from potential buyers. A lot of people have contacted via my auctions, and while I haven't found too much old stuff (3DO, MSX, etc) I now have a list of Korean Saturn titles available and am learning more about the Korean SMS scene. I've stumbled on many links to the SMS Power forums. Here is one good thread someone made:
http://www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7892
Eventually maybe I can do some sort of feature for racketboy about Mega Drive releases in Korea. I haven't found an SMS yet, but I may purchase one if I can also get the first 3 Super Boy games. I purchased the Super Aladdin Boy (Mega Drive) for my own enjoyment, but if I got the other systems it would probably just be to resell.

Re: Korean Samsung Sega Products [UPDATED + PICS]
I have found some additional cartridge variations which you can check out here:

There is one other variation I have seen with the old Samsung logo on the front (different from Toe Jam & Earl) but I have not yet purchased any carts with that marking.
