Remember when the ds was first announced, and nintendo claimed it would coexist with the gameboy brand and not replace it? What a load of bs. . . .

That's really what made me question whether it would succeed or not. Not to mention the first version was clunky and ugly. I still miss the classic upright design of the original gameboy. They need to come out with a super mini/slim version of the pocket design.

Pretty much my train of thought as well. I do have to give the PSP credit for actually managing to scratch the surface of the market though, unlike every other attempted handheld not made by Nintendo.
Hey, I thought the N-gage had a great run and gave Nintendo a run for their money.
If by "run for their money" you mean that the N-Gage made the Nintendo execs run to their massive pile of money to start swimming in, then yes, I agree.

The title picture made me think of the DS and PSP head to head issue of EGM I was looking at the other day. Everything did point to the PSP being better. The original design of ds is so goofy

I bought a PSP first since I thought the DS was gimmicky and kiddy, but really didn't have as much fun as with my GBA. Traded it in for a DS, never looked back.
