Game Informer's top 200 games of ALL TIME
Re: Game Informer's top 200 games of ALL TIME
These lists always give me a good laugh because it's goddamn impossible to make a ranked 'best ever' list of 10 games let alone 100. Then when they almost completely ignore multiple consoles, PC, and arcade games, it's just laughable. Heck I'd argue that a lot of the games in the top 10 aren't even the best in their genre.
Re: Game Informer's top 200 games of ALL TIME
The only "Best Of" lists I have ever found useful are lists like:
Best Games Under *insert cash value* - it saves me some cash finding undervalued games.
Best Obscure Games - it helps me find some great stuff I missed out on.
I don't need a list that consists of THPS2, GTA4, Zelda 3, Super Metroid, etc etc etc. I know those games already. Give me something new - give me something I can use!
And if you aren't going to at least keep the games separated by genre, it's pointless. Who can really say whether Super Mario World is a better or worse game than Civilization IV? No one.

I don't think lists should be banned. Criticisms of lists, now that's another thing entirely. . .

You know, I realize you're a spammer and everything, but I'm going to leave your post up just because you put in Delta Force.
Re: Game Informer's top 200 games of ALL TIME
Didn't want to start a new thread as this contains "Game Informer" in the title. So in this issue of propaganda I have two questions.
Okay, so what's with the "Best games of 2011 'article'"? Some games are just there without any accolades. Is this some Highlights style puzzle where I have to look for games that actually won something? Any clarification on how the titles were picked?
And then, even worse is the console launch "article". No explanation on how they graded a consoles' launch, and I believe the PS2 received a C or a D? What is this article other than another few horribly written pages before more pages of advertisements?
Ugh. I'd gladly pay $5 for my GS card and nothing else than pay $15 for a card and awful promotional material that takes up room in my circular file.

Re: Game Informer's top 200 games of ALL TIME
Ranking games (and rating games for that matter) is dumb because the technology has changed exponentially over the past 30 years. How does someone possibly compare games like Donkey Kong and Oblivion when making a list like that? It's impossible. It's like trying to argue whether or not Pong is a "good" game. It was enormously influential, but is also extremely dated by today's standards (and probably unplayable to most modern gamers).

Re: Game Informer's top 200 games of ALL TIME
Did anybody see there launch library reviews. I swear I slammed my face into a wall repeatedly while reading it in the store. They forgot half the pack in games and 75% of the time they either missed like 2 or 3 or included 2 or 3 that were released like a year and a half after the console was.
Game Informer is so terrible.
