The exposed metal on your wire's contacts are a bit long, which increases the chance of shorts - hot glue the wires in place to stop this. Also, the board under the wires has become brown/yellow, which indicates your iron is too hot, it's fine for what you have done but if you were wiring directly to the chips it would be an issue.

Actually the brown/yellow is from flux. If you use a solder with flux in it that will happen or if you use a lot of flux when soldering that happens. Just wipe it off after soldering before it dries.

Yes, that is flux, All I have is the paste stuff, it makes the yellow pool when it melts, I was going to use heatshink, but then I saw the prices, I will hotglue. Thanks for the tips about using the controller wire though!

This heatsink works VERY well, I just tested it with Starfox 64, works like a charm

I was choosy about what coins I used, they had to be BEFORE 1982, if they were after, the coin would not have had enough copper to conduct properly.

In the future I will Superglue the aluminum onto the pennies to hold them in place, and use AS5 +superglue to hold the pennies to the RCP, RAM, and CPU

I still need to get the following
Third party controller(s) $5-$10
Screen $40-$50(+$30 shipping)
Battery charger $15(+$15 shipping)
Vinyl (maybe)$15
-----------------------------------
Total----------$135.00
Money Left----$231.00

It's interesting how that works, because it makes sense and wouldn't ever occur to me.

Not sure on the completion date yet, Prolly not till at least 2010 maybe mid January, project got pushed back because of family troubles. I got working again, I used some model aircraft filler to fill in the case handles lets just say, it is AWFUL, i would NOT recommend using it for ANYTHING that is visible, so I will go over that with bondo. still need to order a screen, but the batteries should be coming in the mail any time soon, I forgot to order a charger however. guess It is just case and N64 work till I get the money to order both of those, and I still need to get myself a 3rd party controller, so basically, I am at the same point I was at last week. but do not fret, I should get some stuff done in a month or so
