Problems with my copy of Chrono Trigger

The SRAM is the chip which actually stores your save games. If there's an issue with the chip then it might not store your games properly. The battery provides power to the SRAM so the data is not lost when the system is turned off.

Exactly. In your "bottom" pic, its the second largest chip. I googled the number on the chip you provided and it is indeed the SRAM.

So it's very inexpensive. For this situation you have to weigh your options, would it be worth doing it if it still might not work? In this case, for $1.50 plus <$3 shipping, I would take the risk. $4 isn't that big of loss to try and get the cart working, in my opinion.

So long as you have the skills to replace it, or if you know some one that can do it for you.

I don't know how to replace it nor do I know anyone who would know how. I don't think I have the skills to read up and take a stab at it either. Oh well then.

Actually I am a bit curious. How would you replace the SRAM?
