Moreover, it sounds like a hassle... and I never went through the trials and tribulations of installing OS's prior to XP. I can only imagine that it would be as fun as shooting yourself in the foot.
EDIT: Of note, I'll give it a shot since I can't do anything detrimental to my computer, but I'm not too optimistic about getting it running well. Maybe I'll surprise myself. I did build my PC from sratch without any significant hiccups.
Well how about this, I have almost every version of Windows under the sun. Let me know which version you want and I can send you the ISO. Hell, if you want a few versions I'll burn ya the discs and send them to ya.
As far as getting it running, it runs great. It runs perfectly fine as long as you set up the virtual PC fine. For Win95, 98 and ME don't give it anything over 512MB of RAM. I run virtual machines on my Vista PC all the time, 98SE, 2K, and XP and they all run perfectly. So be very optimistic about getting it running well.

Thanks a lot for the offer. I'm actually on the road for work this week so I'll play around with finding a torrent and setting up the Virtualbox software when I get home this weekend. If I can not get things to work properly I might take you up on your offer.

95,98,2000, or xp?
I got xp , but I heard it has problems with Dungeon Keeper. As far as I can remember 98 was scary to use, with every imaginable fault integrated in the system.
Alice plays with xp, vista, and 7 fairly well - it is Quake 3 based.
As far as I know, Theme Park and Dungeon Keeper both like win98 mighty fine.
So for you, 98 would probably be best. Alice will run slow, but you could always just get the Mac version.
Why would Alice run slow?
because of Windows 98 or because of the VirtualBox?
Its a 10 year old game I believe!?
If my 2009 computer can't run 10 year old game, then technology must be retarded
or is it because of Windows 98?
btw, I heard that VirtualBox does not support DirectX? like you can't play 3D games, any one can enlighten me?

You can still run 3D games if the game has a software renderer. I'm assuming that's why Alice would run slow.
Alice runs slow on Windows 98. It heavily uses Java and is based on the Quake III engine, and for some reason, even on a good box, it runs slow on 98. A buddy of mine tried to play it on his 98 box - 1.8ghz P3, 768gigs of ram, and a PCI FX5200, and the game ran at about 12 fps, we installed xp on the box and it ran at 20 fps.

I got bootcamp with XP installed on the system, so no worries, I just don't like rebooting
But the question is , does VirtualBox run 3D games or not, be it xp or any other OS
It depends. Dosbox runs Mechwarrior 2 DOS edition, as it uses software rendering for the 3D. But if the game uses DirectX for its rendering engine then you won't be able to play it in Dosbox. Really, just use Dosbox to play DOS games. It can't play Windows editions (such as the Mechwarrior 2 Battlepack).

That's what I was afraid of. I suppose I was hoping to find a plug-in or something for the virtaulbox program. No such luck.
I don't think anyone would be too bothered if you downloaded windows 95. Personally I'd be much more concerned if you paid for it.
Yeah people literally give away copies of Win 9x. Hell if you live in Michigan I will give you legit copies of 98SE or whatever. If you can't get a copy on ebay for $0 - $5 I would be shocked.
