Gyromite Famicom to NES adapter problem.

Post by Algo Fonix »

I really didn't want my first post to have to be asking a question, but here goes.

I bought a copy of Gyromite over the weekend with plans to make my own converter, for playing Famicom games. It boots up fine, but upon inspection of the board, I find that some piece has been broken off. I'm mostly worried that this could cause problems later on. I guess pictures work better than words in this case so I'll let them do their work:

This is what my board looks like, with the spot with the component broken off circled:

And this is one of the many images I found that show what the missing component looks like:

Well, the question is, is there anyone that would have any idea if it'd be possible just to buy a replacement component and solder it back on and what part is that anyways? I'm pretty alright with soldering, I just don't have any idea as to what part I'd be soldering on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is just a resistor. You should be able to buy one a radioshack or some other electronics/hardware store. Make sure you get the same color scheme though, the colors and the order of the colors dictate the resisters capacitance in Ohms.

But yes you can just buy one and solder it back on.

Thanks a ton! I'll look around and see if I can't find another resistor to match.
