you got me there. Yeah. I'm not gonna play it though, so I'm pretending otherwise.fastbilly1 wrote:Jackal is techincally a shmup. A multidirectional shooter.

A proper shmup, a fighter, and a racing game are all in the cards for the future.
And Phantasy Star was chosen partially because of my heavy Phantasy Star Zero gameplay recently, partially because so few nowadays have played it. It was one of the first, if not the first, RPG's to feature a female protagonist. It is also very stylistic, released a dozen or so times, is currently available on the Wii VC and the GBA, and can be bought on ebay for a steal.

it's one of those RPG's that I've meant to play since it first came out. So, I'm beyond thrilled to be playing it for TR. I love that TR gives me an excuse to finally get around to getting and playing games that I wouldn't otherwise. (For the record, I had Jackal for the NES when it was first released. But nowadays, I'm only collecting for Gamecube/GB/GBA, so that's why I'll be skipping Feb.)

Phantasy Star is also unlockable on the 360/PS3 Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. =) There's really no reason for anyone to not have access in some way. Unfortunately, you have to beat the first boss in Sonic 2 with 2 players to unlock Phantasy Star I.

I thought it was on the 360/PS3 aswell. Good good, even more reason to play it. Truth be told, I would rather do PS4, since I still havent finished it...
Re: Upcoming Together Retro Calendar
PS IV is on that compilation, Wii VC, and that PS2 import collection (with complete English menu available) so I guess you'd still have options for folks if you went that route. It'd be awesome to have a marathon of PS in my lifetime, but I don't foresee that in any future of mine. I don't think I ever beat IV either, actually...

Re: Upcoming Together Retro Calendar
For our collectors, PSIV is still right out of the price point we like to keep TR at. We try to keep the games at or below $20 (for the original version atleast). We have made a few exceptions and Ive had some guys chew me out because of it. It is close enough I would have done it if PSI didnt recently drop in price.
Re: Upcoming Together Retro Calendar
Completely agree. Besides, if you're going retro for the series, might as well start at the beginning! =)

Great, another good excuse to play a game I've never played.fastbilly1 wrote:And Phantasy Star was chosen partially because of my heavy Phantasy Star Zero gameplay recently, partially because so few nowadays have played it.
TR will keep me busy as usual. I still missed a few that have to put on standby for later.
