I wouldn't say deserved, but yeah. Meeting a stranger at 11pm is pretty dumb for something expensive like that. I've missed out on some CL deals because I'll answer them and say I can only meet after 8PM or on the weekend and if its early in the week, sometimes people don't want to wait. I can understand not wanting to meet after dark, so I clearly mention it if I answer an ad.

I wasn't afraid till I was actual going to pick up an item once,my CD-i. After I arrived at the guys house he let me try the system and games out and asked me why I was interested in it. I told him I was a video game collector. He then told me "there's something cool I would like to show you in the basement then". I was reluctant but let him lead the way. When we got down there it was dark, then he flicked a switch and all these pinball, skillstop, and pachinko machines lit up and even a carousel. He had a Sonic pachinko machine that had a digital screen showing sonic animations as the game was played. he mostly collected thew old non digital pinballs. He had to have had over 40 down there. he was clearly excited to show some one his collection. So it turned out OK but I sure was nervous for a second.

It plays the pachinko machine or else it gets the hose again. It does what it's told!

I've never done an auction like that, but thinking about going to meet a stranger does sound scary. But, from what you guys are saying about fast foot joints and public places, that might be my future plan.
There might be a good side too. Maybe out of nowhere, the auctioneer might turn up to be a foxy lady. I'm still young, thoughts like this still linger.

Just pick a busy public place if you're not good at reading personality cues from talking to them on the phone. Criminals don't like attention. If they balk at a public place, it might not be a good idea to go through with the trade. If they do turn out to be an especially stupid thief then there will be lots of people around when you yell "stop thief".

I'm terrible at reading people, especially if I can't see them. And I sure as hell don't have a silver tongue myself, but I think as long as I play it cool, that plan will come through.

Fixed the story for you to be more entertaining.

Some of the people I've dealt with on CL want to meet in a public place. I don't have a problem with it. All of my CL transactions have gone well. There were a couple of places that were really dumpy but there was never a time I was nervous.
