Heh. I took a Communication course, but it was all a bunch of Fourier Transforms and error correction codes and modulation schemes.
I guess that's why the slap the "social" in front of it.

Generally in the US the Bachelor's programs don't require this, but for a Masters and Doctorate you have to present your final work (your thesis) and defend its merit to a committee at the school. If you succeed they will bestow you with the degree of Master in Blah or Doctor of Blah. A Bachelor's is designed to show that you can think critically and have knowledge of whatever subject your major was. The Masters and Doctorate show that you have actively contributed to the field.

that is what I know
The difference between Masters and Bachelors is in Masters you specialize a bit and you have to write a piece of work , I was amazed that he had to do this in his Bachelors.

In phd, you got to write out a completely new study, right?

It usually all depends on University policies, licenses and certifications. Some degree qualifications vary from as close as state to state.

I assumed Bachelor's programs were similar in the US, but I admit I had no basis for this assumption other than the fact that all courses in Brazil require this kind of defense of your last work. That must be because courses are federally regulated here. But I would like a bit more the American system, if I had to choose -- it has more diversity, even though I don't fancy the admission procedures.

Trust me, what you have is better.
Even though its more difficult, at least you learned something.

Some new universities opened up here, and it was a total joke at the end of the day.
I can tell you , out of 4+ years I probably only got the certificate that I completed the Bachelors degree. No knowledge what so ever, for many courses I can complete tests based on what I was taught in school. Can you imagine?

Well, I'm almost done. I just finished typing up my last book review, and I finished and turned in my last major project earlier today, so all I have left is a test tomorrow morning and a few days of work in the library, and I am officially done with my Master's degree.

It has been a very long semester, but very rewarding. I am amazed at how exhausted I feel. Mental and emotional fatigue over the whole thing are pretty high right now, and I really just want to close my eyes and fall asleep right here. Tomorrow, once I'm through, I'm spending some time watching a movie, and hanging out with friends, and then on Tuesday it's off to begin writing new articles, something I have neglected to do for the last few months. I'm looking forward to it.

God no. Nothing beyond a few I intend to apply for, and one possibility, though it doesn't earn any money unfortunately. Why, you hiring?
