Bayonetta is starting to sound like one crazy game

Post by Gamerforlife »

Something I saw in a reader review that made me go WTF!?

"With twenty varied levels including everything from motorcycle chases, bullet-hell shooters, and even a dance off for no apparent reason, Bayonetta has something for everyone."

This game certainly is sounding interesting. And here I was just expecting a Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden clone

Hmm, call me skeptical, but something that tries to do everything is good at none of them.

I've heard tons of good things that have imported it. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I have completed the game twice with my Japanese copy for the PS3, and I would say Bayonetta is the DMC of this generation. (It's by Kamiya duh!)

The game is overflowing with so much effort and heart from the creators, something the formulaic and factory-made games sorely lacked these days.

Even after you have completed the game, rest assure that you would want to play it again. Bayonetta is just pure good fun, and it reminds you of why you love games in the first place. The game is crazy, yes. And that's what makes it different and a breathe of fresh air. So many unlockables you'd ask what the hell are DLCs for. Additional bosses, secret levels, characters, costumes, 3D models viewers of everything in game, a Soundtrack playing station, many distinctive weapons, accessories. In addition, plenty of homages to Sonic, and old-school games which I won't spoil it for you here.

Make no mistake, there's nothing like Bayonetta in the market.

Ninja Gaiden I & II have nothing on Bayonetta. The former 2 is cheap difficulty while the latter is simply challenging. DMC 2, 3 and 4 is lackluster compared to this.

And to show you guys why this game is so amazing...

EGDGE Magazine gave it a 10. Eurogamer gave it a 9/10. Famitsu gave it a perfect 40/40.

The PS3 version is hampered by loading times, due to a lack of install option. If you have a 360, buy that version. However, it's still enjoyable on the PS3. Hopefully they will release a patch that inserts an install option soon.

I can personally attest to how cheap NG 2 is. I finished it on Mentor and messed around a little on Master Ninja. NG 2 likes to throw everything at you, despite the fact that it doesn't even give you the proper tools to fight back. An idiotic targetting system, a brain dead and SLOW camera, and bugs and glitches galore and some parts of the game feel like they must have been designed while Itagaki and crew were drunk. Don't get me wrong, I like the game. It has its upsides and with experience, you learn to get around all this crap, but it would be nice to play something FAIR and POLISHED for a change that is still challenging and action packed the way NG 2 can be at times.

A lot of talk about Bayonetta so far indicates that it is indeed challenging but not cheesy and it looks like it has a God Hand like sense of humor and quirkiness(which is pretty much the only thing God Hand did right). I'm also intrigued by a lot of its unlockables. From what I'm hearing it's not just a bunch of stupid, useless crap like alternate outfits. I might check this out when it's released.

I have been waiting for this game since it was announced. Clover was one of my favourite studios because of God Hand, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe. Devil May Cry is my top action game series and hearing that Hideki was going to be heading the project with the reincarnated Clover, I was sold on it immediately. It definitely has the quirky God Hand and Viewtiful Joe humour which I have been missing for quite some time, and I feel that the gameplay trumps devil may cry. I'm excited and can't wait for it's release.

Sega is starting to publish some really good games and yet they're still in the red, financially.

I played the demo, didn't really like it, it felt exactly like Devil May Cry, and I didn't enjoy that game, the fights are too drawn out and get boring. The set pieces are cool though, like at the end of the demo when the giant boss dude is swinging you around on a bridge he tore out of the ground.
