New game releases - what do they do at game stores?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

When I got back to the hotel room I found the disc had all these scratches on it. I would of been ok, but it was supposed to be new. I returned it and got my money back : (

EVERYONE knows how I feel about this so I wont get into it. But I will say due to how fucked up gamestop is I will spend 30$ MORE if I have to on a 50$ game just to get it sealed. If it is NOT sealed...its NOT new. Period.

I remember when one of the Call of duties came out...I was in toys R us and they had the game out 2 days early. I bout shit myself.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

Early Released Games
When Halo 2 was released a small game shop near me sold 3 friends and I a copy. I frequented the shop a good amount. Fond memory of us throwing a lan party a day before it was released.

Opened New Game
I have encountered the "New" Game that's already opened at Gamestop. Usually when I'm picking up the newest NHL game. They get so few in stock, and they are rarely traded in early on it's release. Often they only have 1 copy left. The opened new game.

I ask for the used discount, of course they will not give it to me. I then politely say I will pick it up elsewhere sealed if I have to pay the same price.

It's happened 3 different years. 2 of the times the employees were understanding and knew where I was coming from.
The other time they kind of scoffed like I was an idiot and acted like a douche bag.

I do have to take a little bit more time to pickup a copy and may even have to wait an extra day. I doubt I effected their income for the day by any notice. It's just to stick by my opinion
Sealed game = Sealed Price
Open Game = Used game
