Recommendations for high priced consoles. Now a poll
Re: Recommendations for high priced consoles.
get the AES plus an MVS converter. buy a ton of MVS games in anticipation of buying an arcade. if you have the space and own a house, just start on the arcade collection.

Yeah, true... but none of the Saturn versions have the nudity like the PC-FX ones do!the7k wrote:It'd be nice to learn more about the FM Towns Marty. The games look impressive, but I've never seen anyone take a critical eye to them. I'd like to know if it would really be worth it to get one.
I remember wanting to get a PC-FX, but there's just not enough great games on it to justify the price that I can't get elsewhere.

Get a Neo-Geo AES, so that I may enjoy it vicariously through you!

I agree with both statements. I have rarely heard anything about the FM Towns Marty, but it does look pretty cool and the graphics look solid from what I've seen and read online. I kinda wanted a PC-FX, but me not knowing anything about the japanese language and not being the biggest rpg fan, I just can help justify the purchase. The console looks so damn sexy though.

I would get a red Sharp Twin Famicom
Just because it looks more fun.
Thanks everyone...

I'm voting AES. I can't imagine spending money on a Jaguar and CD, even for a collection. Ugh. A Twin Fami would also rock, but IMO the Fami doesn't have a whole hell of a lot of incredible games that weren't ported to the NES.
The other stuff is OK I guess, but I don't have much personal experience. My philosophy has always been this: yes, it's a collection but if you can't PLAY or USE it much it's not a video game it's just so much plastic.

Some of the rare/expensive systems I have are the PC engine duo r, PC-FX, and the Playdia. My budget is between $200-$400. I know some of these systems won't be good game wise but I am also a collector. I will get the vectrex but its easily had under $100 so I can get that anytime. I also have a Neo Geo Cd does that change some of the AES votes?
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.
