I recently had my car totaled, and recieved my settlement check from the insurance company. I bought a new vehicle but now have a large sum left. Most will go in my saving but I want to buy at least one high priced video game console. my choices so far are:
Atari Jaguar w/ CD attachment
Laseractive w/ mega drive pac
Neo-Geo AES (I own a NEOGEO CD)
MSX 2
Sharp Twin Famicom
FM Towns Marty
Commodore Amiga CD32 with Paravision SX-1
Which one do you think I should choose and why? I am a gamer and a collector. If you have other suggestions let me know.
Recommendations for high priced consoles. Now a poll

Only get the Jaguar and cd if youare really wanting to say that you have that system. Not many games for it make the purchase worth it. But, you can always tell people you got it from then on. I got 2. They dont get played much. But the VLM that it has to play cd's is quit nice.

Re: Recommendations for high priced consoles.
I have a Jaguar and I suggest you don't bother buying one.
Mostly harmless
Re: Recommendations for high priced consoles.
Jaguar CD has a failure rate that makes the Xbox 360 look like a solid rock. Just letting you know.
Re: Recommendations for high priced consoles.
Do you have a Turbo Duo? I'd consider that. The Amiga and the AES are also good choices with a lot of excellent games.

co-sign. Growing up, my TG-16 got just as much of my game-time as my Genny.

My vote is for the FM Towns Marty because it is probably the most obscure/expensive console. If you can find one for a good price (and have the money to spend), grab it!
Re: Recommendations for high priced consoles.
Buy my Mega Drive/Mega CD set! Failing that, start a Neo Geo AES collection. It's not as expensive as you think and it's easier and more fun to collect for than most of these other systems, IMO.pepharytheworm wrote:I recently had my car totaled, and recieved my settlement check from the insurance company. It'd be nice to learn more about the FM Towns Marty. The games look impressive, but I've never seen anyone take a critical eye to them. I'd like to know if it would really be worth it to get one.
I remember wanting to get a PC-FX, but there's just not enough great games on it to justify the price that I can't get elsewhere.
