Samurai Shodown Anthology, Yakuza series, Shin Megami Tensei series, Fatal Frame series, a bunch of SRPGs I bought cheap, MGS3 LE, Silent Hill series, Rez, Shadow Hearts, Fire Fighter F.D 18, Ico, Mister Mosquito, ZOE 2 all for PS2 have gone up in value and I found most of them for $20 or less. My Xbox collection hasn't aside from Steel Battalion. Also, just about all of my Gamecube collection has gone up. Its all about timing, patience and research.Limewater wrote:Has this strategy really worked? So...what is the most expensive game you have ever bought?

Back in '98 or so , I had a modded psx. And for once I wanted an original game, and I really really loved Casper the movie(it was amazing for its time)+I was like 13 maybe. I bought Casper for psx for a WHOPPING price of $120 retail!! I still got the CD, amazingly it survived although I never cared to store it, and I WILL PLAY IT!
I never passed 2nd level.
I want to add that my country is tax free, so all that money is because the businessmen are greedy bastards.
(Honestly, a lot of the stuff here is ordered from outside and they just 2x the price)

I once bought Magic Knight Rayearth [Saturn] for $100, new and sealed. Totally worth it.

$65 for Gex 64 when it first came out. I remember N64 games being really expensive at first too. $79 for shadows of the empire at toys r us.
Since then I think the most I've spent has been $60 for new 360 games. Used/Old games I don't think I've spent more than $50 which was on burning rangers.

Oh... I just thought of one!
Hot Shots Golf 4 (JP version). It was about $600 in 2007, but it came with a 60GB PS3 (or did it the PS3 come with the game?)

Never more than about US$50 for a game. That was for GTA 4 and GTA:SA for the PC.
Having said that I did pay more to be able to play one particular game as God intended; namely Samurai Shodown 2. I bought an MVS board, a Supergun, a NeoGeo stick and the SS2 cart. Then the MVS board died so I had to buy a replacement. In all, including postage I paid probably somewhere in the region of US$400.
And I still suck at Samurai Shodown...

$250 for Marvel vs Capcom competition cabinet. Turned around and sold it a few days later for $400, but that is another story.
