What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Killer Movie, a decent DTV slasher film with Kaley Cuoco ("The Big Bang Theory"), JC Chavez (of NSYNC fame), Leighton Meester, Jason London ("Dazed and Confused") and so-so kills.

Currently watching Sleep Paralysis. Let's just say that I am so damned bored that I decided to post about it. The idea is pretty neat, I think. The dialogue is what's so dreadful. Everyone speaks as though they are reading directly from a script. A bad script. Sounds as if someone is reading from a technical manual. When people talk to each other they sound like they are just reciting definitions. Even though husband and wife, which is really disappointing. I would say avoid this movie if you have a rough time tolerating a movie with poor actors. The idea, from what I understand so far, is okay. A writer relocates to a secluded mansion to get some peace and focus on her work. She begins suffering from sleep paralysis. Is it regular old sleep paralysis as science defines it or is there a supernatural force at work? Hopefully I will be able to make it through the movie and find out.

MGS Philantropy. It's a no-budget fan movie based on MGS. It captures the campiness of the series perfectly, and is essentially superior to anything Uwe Boll might churn out if he ever secured the MGS license!

Yeah, I remember that little geek/quarterback dialogue and I quite enjoyed it too. It's because of moments like this that I can't in good conscience say that the movie totally sucked.Limewater wrote:My wife and I have actually and successfully used that film as a sleep aid on more than one occasion.Gamerforlife wrote: I also caught that last Fantastic Four movie with Silver Surfer on tv. It's was okay, not great, not horrible either. Passable entertainment. I'm not a huge Fantastic Four geek so I don't know how they felt about it. I will say it felt way too Hollywood, with parts handed out simply due to star power and looks rather than who would best fit the part.
Here is the dialog from what is easily the best and most memorable scene from the film, though you really have to see it to appreciate it.
General Hagen: No you don't understand. So let me make it clear for you and your pack of freaks here. I'm the quarterback. You're on my team, got it? But I guess you never played football in high school, did you Richards?
Reed Richards: No, you're right, I didn't. I stayed inside and studied, like a good little nerd. And fifteen years later, I'm one of the greatest minds of the 21st century, I'm engaged to the hottest girl on the planet, and the big jock who played quarterback in high school? Well he's standing right in front of me asking me for my help. And I say he's not gonna get a damn thing, unless he does exactly what I tell him, and starts treating my friends and me, with some respect.
[Pause]
General Hagen: Give him what he wants.
[The general storms off]
Susan Storm: I am so hot for you right now.
Johnny Storm: Me too. All right Reed!
The Reed Richards dance scene is pretty awesomely ridiculous as well.
Heck, even X-Men 3, the Star Wars prequels and the Matrix sequels had their moments

Finally watched Evangelion 1.01.
It was actually better than I thought it'd be, there was a perfect mix of new animation and nostalgic scenes. Easily the best use of cg in an anime I've ever seen. In fact, this is one of the few times I've seen cg and actually liked it, even outside of bias for the series. Probably the biggest improvement for me was the angels, the increased complexity of their designs and creative touches really breathed new life into their concept.

I completely agree. Ramiel was just epic as opposed to a bit boring.Dylan wrote:Finally watched Evangelion 1.01.

I would definitely agree on Ramiel as most improved, and I also thought that Shamshel's design was much better. I'm actually quite excited to see the rest now, especially ones I thought were stupid looking (Sahaquiel).Reverend wrote:I completely agree. Ramiel was just epic as opposed to a bit boring.

That one was kinda uninspired. But according to Google:Dylan wrote:I would definitely agree on Ramiel as most improved, and I also thought that Shamshel's design was much better. I'm glad that the CG they used was limited to small touches and massive scenes, but the fights were almost 100% true animation.
Now for 2.0 to get ripped for us to feed our EVA cravings, be sure to stay after the credits for the preview to the sequel.

Watched Gamer yesterday. I thought the previews looked absolutely terrible, but the movie ended up being pretty decent! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a throwback action movie in the vein of Total Recall, Robocop, etc.
