They give hints after people thrash around a little bit. I think generally they want to wait a while on the hard ones so that the guys who know all of the obscure stuff but aren't on all the time get a chance.

Either way, I somehow went from looking at dolphins in games to watching YouTube videos of a guy making fun of all the Make My Video games...I think I'm done for now.
