Games That Have Better US Titles

Post by Flak Beard »

I couldn't sleep last night and for some reason started thinking about games I thought had better names once they were localized.

JPN NAME --> US NAME

Trusty Bell --> Eternal Sonata
Soul Blader --> Soul Blazer
Bare Knuckle --> Streets of Rage
God Slayer --> Crystalis
Kula World --> Roll Away

Just a few that came to mind. You guys got any? :D

Sir, I beg to differ. God Slayer > Crystalis.

In fact, I like the name "God Slayer" so much that I'm going to program a game called "Christ Puncher."

Well, technically it's "Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream" which sounds, to me, a lot better than a generic RPG name like "Eternal Sonata". The Japanese title references the game, whereas "Eternal Sonata" just sounds like something they threw out there.

I liked Indigo Prophecy's title over Fahrenheit. Also, Resident Evil over Biohazard.

I loved how "Dead Dance", a Japanese fighter that was clearly inspired by Hokuto no Ken, was renamed to "Tuff E Nuff" in a God awful effort to be hip and fly and down wit' da homies.

Also, while "Crystalis" is a name that is very unique, "God Slayer" is f'en metal. I also much preferred Kula World, but maybe that's because King of Fighters has made me like the name Kula.
