So...what is the most expensive game you have ever bought?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

One game I spent a whole lot on was The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I got it in 2000 or 2001 and it cost me $30 for a used cart only copy and another $30 for the expansion pak. Words can't explain what it was like for me as a ten year old to stare at the blank screen that said, "Sorry, this game requires an EXPANSION PAK." It was awesome once I got it up and running, though.

The other expensive game I got was Shining Force III, which I bought in 2005 or 2006.. It was disc only and I think it cost $50 or so. It was worth every penny.

Most of what's left on my too buy list WILL BE the most expensive. I'm leaving the best for last.

If you consider new games then CoD-MW2 - Hardened Edition at $80 was the most I spent.

But retro I bought Steel Battalion, controller, and LofC for $98 including shipping. This is the rare blue button outlay. And this was about 4 years ago. Then there is MvC 2 for the oXbox at $42 on Ebay, that was about 2 years ago.

Guy mispelled Capcom; Capgun.

I have scads of LE and CE releases, but I almost never buy them at launch. I don't recall spending more than $100 for a game, although I'm in current negotiations for Under Defeat Limited :|

$99.99 in Canada. Virtua Racing and Phantasy Star IV, both for the Genesis, were the only non-Neo Geo games I've seen at the $100 mark.

I don't think that counts, as that's not just a game. You're also buying accessories.

My strategy is to buy games I think will have a low print run cheaply and just watch them gain or maintain value. For example,I bought Steel Battalion sealed for $70.00 and the entire PS2 Shin Megami Tensei series for around $100.00 total. I fucked up though when I bought Beatles RB LE for $250.00, MGS3 and MGS4 Limited Edition for around $70.00 a piece when they first came out. I love the Beatles and MGS and my judgement was clouded. Funny how MGS3 LE is worth way more than MGS4 LE.

I think most limited, collectors editions are a waste of money, and theres nothing limited or or worth collecting about them. I still see Beatles RB LE for sale everywhere and feel the product title saying Limited Edition is very misleading to the consumer. If your going to call it Limited Edition there should be a strict cap on how many are made, because right now everything could be a Limited Edition. Its just very misleading and I won't be suckered into buying another LE, CE or DLC or whatever edition again.

I personally think companies do whole LE, CE and DLC thing to see how a consumer will pay for a game and to suck us dry and it works. So that they can structure pricing for consoles of the future. I bet Capcom sold millions of costume packs for SFIV, something that should have been included with the game and was already on the disk. Shame on them.

The only games I'll pay a little extra for nowadays are retro games. You can't place a price on childhood memories. :D Sorry for the rant.

This is the same method that I've adopted.

I'm glad to hear that....so yea.

Its no problem I am just glad to see people dont know how to work a forum properly to search things.

But sinse I dont want to start shit with a comment that says only that, to answer the question for the...4 time:

A copy of radiant silvergun complete with reg card and spine card, that was also bundled with the radiant silvergun guide complete with the cover slip. The guide alone normally sells for 150-200$ and is harder to come by than the game itself.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

Has this strategy really worked? What games have you gotten on the cheap that are worth more now?
